Trump did much better in the second debate. He landed punch after punch on Hillary, who didn't seem to be able to communicate effectively.

But there was one point where Trump blew it and probably damaged his chances, and that was where he said he see Hillary thrown in jail.

Ugly, ugly. Nobody wanted to hear that. That is not how we roll in America. We do not put our political opponents in jail.

Trump just doesn't have what it takes. He is going to lose.

I thought Hillary was terrible last night. Actually I thought the whole night was terrible. 320 million people, and we have these two assclowns up there?

I agree that the jail comment was stupid. I posted in another thread that seeing Hillary in jail isn't in my top 100 things I want to see the next President work on. That was read meat being tossed at his followers. It probably got them more fired up, so maybe it worked. But will it resonate with Independents and the people whose votes he needs? No.

The whole thing is ugly, Clinton's responses were ugly. The entire debate was some Junior High schoolyard spat. All it shows is that neither candidate is fit to serve as President.

He said he would appoint a special prosecutor, then made a quip about her being in jail.
Don't spin it for what it wasn't.

A lot of people want to hear that actually. Because that is where she belongs.

Every time somebody mentions "screwed the pooch" it brings up some really nasty images in my head!

Since Trump failed to say "meat curtains" during the debate, I will not be voting for him.

1. This has nothing to do with putting a political opponent in jail simply because they are the opponent. It has to do with
his belief that she is guilty of a crime.
2. This is nothing new. He has been saying this at his rallies.
3. His supporters love this.
4. The crowed at the debate appeared to like the bravado.

None of that indicates it would hurt him.

He'll likely lose, but not because of that remark. His base wants to hear that. You're not his base. And I'd venture to say you never were. Nothing DT has done has driven you from him.

How much must people hate HC? How desperate must a large segment of the electorate be? Pretty damned desperate.

By the way...I'm back.

It is a new age.
It actually means they are both fit.

Nobody wants to jail her simply for being a political opponent. What an absurd way to spin the comment.

He said he would appoint a special prosecutor, then made a quip about her being in jail.
Don't spin it for what it wasn't.

He wants to continue the 30 year fishing expedition that hasn't done squat.

But yeah, this is the sort of thing dictators do.

Largely a false claim, I could refer you to the FBI investigation that showed clear wrong doing.
But you'll "handwave" that.

Dictators make quips?
Such a low threshold to be a dictator these days.

Yes they do. They have been fishing for 30 years. They haven't come up with squat.

Trump just doesn't have what it takes. He is going to lose.

It showed he has the base inclinations of the wannabe tyrant usually found in tin horn nations where that is the usual fate of ones opposition.

Trump did do one important thing last night: he shored up the base. Almost every thing he said was dog whistles to the alt right who delighted in the red meat being thrown their way and no doubt were salivating over. This smartly started with parade of women before the debate to shame the Clintons.

But despite that important win for him, he did nothing to expand his support or get the votes of anyone not already supporting him. And when you are behind with four weeks to go, that is NOT an effective strategy.

Hey, let's start a new tradition. All crooked politicians who commit crimes against the country, people, etc. need to go to jail. That might clean up Washington.

Anyway, DJT brought something up that people ought to think about. How does a senator, who makes, what, couple hundred-thousand a year, go from that to being worth several millions of dollars as Sec. of State?

They did not recommend charges be brought. She messed up. But this isn't the mountain her opponents wish it was.

Dictators make quips?

Dictators jail their political opponents.

I suspect that every tyrant who imprisons their political opposition can point to a good reason - maybe even a legal reason - why it was necessary and proper.

Trump would be no different.

No, I've tried to understand Trump's base, but I'm not one of them. I've advocated that Trump be treated fairly by the news media, but I'm not a supporter of his. I lean toward voting for Trump because it seems to me that he'd do less damage because he's opposed by just about everyone in Washington, DC.

It's a new concept created in the 70's. It's called the two income household.

I disagree, it was refreshing to see a candidate tell a criminal that she would be held to the same standard of justice you and I would be held too.

They did not recommend charges be brought. She messed up. But this isn't the mountain her opponents wish it was.

Yes as he read down the list that she met all the criteria for being prosecuted.
The prevailing theory of why he did not recommend prosecution was because he did not want to inject the FBI in a political race.
At least any more than it already had.

Dictators jail their political opponents.

Dictators must also want to recommend a special prosecutor to investigate wrong doing.
And they also make quips.

Jesus you people want to read in to things so much harder than what they actually are.

Your reasoning isn't far off from mine. HC will do far more damage to this country than DT for just the reason you mention.
