Instruct the DoJ to appoint a Special Prosecutor?

Can anyone imagine what the reaction from the right would be if a democratic party candidate for president promised, if elected, to instruct the DoJ to appoint a "special proscecutor" for the purpose of putting a political opponent into jail would have been? And yet, this got a rousing applause from the Trumpistas in the audience an, no doubt, a big hard on for all the Trumpeters watching the debate tonight. This is affirmation about how true my profile quote is.

That line by Trump was cheered by tens of millions of Americans fed up with The Clinton Criminal Enterprise getting Get Out of Jail Free Cards. That nationwide cheer included independents and some Democrats.

Why should Criminal Hillary skate for her many criminalities?

Why should she not be prosecuted?

People have spent time a lot of time in the can for doing far less than what she has done.

It's time for her to have her day in court, and serve time for her behaviors.

She's not a queen, she's not above the law... at least not supposed to be, and she need be held accountable for her actions.

We are a country of laws. She broke many of them, and her actions were serious breaches of national security, combined with lies to cover them up.

In the first place, the President of the United States does not order the DoJ to go after people. There's a process. Clinton has been subjected to that process by an FBI whose boss has been a lifelong Republican and whose first appointment was from Ronald Reagan. It is a damn certainty that Comey did everything he could to come up with chargeable offenses and couldn't. In fact, he was so frustrated that there wasn't enough there he's been helping the rightwing keep this line of attack alive by continuous insinuations that she did do something illegal (even though he's been on record multiple time, under oath, that there isn't anything criminal there). But who's surprised that the people who like the Tangerine Hulk would have no regard for due process and cheered at the idea of a strong man dictator simply jailing a political opponent? That's who they (you) are.

Just because HC is a politician doesn't mean that she would be persecuted for her lean of a special prosecutor were appointed. She broke the law. She lied. She obstructed justice.

Still not sure why you think Democrats deserve a different standard of justice than everyone else. Is it because you know the Democrat party is fundamentally corrupt ?

First of all, your profile quote is nonsense. Fascism is a strain of collectivism. If it arrives here it will arrive through the door opened by the collectivist left. Second, Comey said that there was evidence of potential violations of statutes, but decided not to recommend anything be done about it. Go watch that first press conference she did after this tory broke and watch her tell lie after lie after lie. If she wasn't the democrat nominee, the outcome would have been different. What Trump is calling for, ironically, is that justice be done with regard to this case and an actual investigation take place. You oppose it because you support Hillary. Not because you have any principles.

The Attorney General appoints any Special Prosecutor (Outside Counsel) not the DOJ by instruction from the President. If Trump were to do so to prosecute Hillary, it would definitely, IMO, be seen as for political reasons and subject Trump to impeachment. That's if Trump were elected and if Congress approved whatever zealot Attorney General he appointed.

Bullseye. The IC law specifies that the AG makes the decision to create one completely independent of the WH. Congress can request this or the AG can initiate the process on his/her own. The President is excluded from having any power or involvement in the matter. Trump does not even know this basic fact or, worse, he does know and would ignore it.
