GOP Scrambles to Salvage Election after Donald Trump’s Latest Imbroglio

….The Republican Party Cuts Off Trump’s Cash and Leaves Their Nominee to Wither and Die ….

…….Reince Priebus has directed the RNC to cut off all cash and support to Donald Trump and direct resources to down ballot candidates…………..

……………Donald Trump has no campaign organization of his own. By cutting off RNC funds, the Republican Party is abandoning their nominee to certain defeat. Trump has no get out the vote operation, no data operation, and no staff on the ground in key swing states.

The Republican Party has been doing it all for Trump, but Reince Priebus is pulling the plug. The move to dump Trump financially has been rumored since August, but it was widely thought that the party would give their nominee at least through the second presidential debate to turn the campaign around.
The release of a tape that features Trump bragging about sexual assault and using lewd language while discussing women has changed the political calculus………….

………… The Republican Party is dumping Trump to save their own hides, but it may be too little too late to save Republicans from a catastrophic defeat.

The party is over.............other than a Trump landslide loss to HRC..........what else is of concern is............will there be a GOP when it is all over

The GOP has majorities in the House and the Senate and has 31 Governorships.

They are far from " over ".

Sure, but most voters aren't going to throw their representives under the bus or switch sides because of something Donald Trump said.

You need to realize that your level of faux outrage is Politically motivated and that it doesn't apply to millions of voters who have had to live with the consequences of Democrat disasters like ObamaCare.

How do you think the GOP won back the Senate in the first place ? 8 years of Obama.

Nothing grows the Conservative base faster than subjecting people to the consequences of Liberal initaives.

i've been hoping for years, my favorite republican would be president-Senator Rob Portman of Ohio. David Broder-before he died-argued that if Obama won in 2012 (Broder died in the spring of 2011) Portman would be the best choice for the GOP to win in 2016. sadly Portman deferred to our governor John Kasich. But if the HIldabeast wins, the odds of the GOP winning the Whitehouse in 2020 is extremely high, and with Kasich out of the way and most sane Republicans fed up with the stupidity of open primaries that gave us Trump, Portman will be well placed to be president

I stated many months ago that Trump was the weakest GOP candidate and I was pulling for his nomination because it offered the double bonus of dividing the party. And now dreams do indeed come true.

GOP leaders need to quickly assemble a press announcement asking voters to back former GOP Governors now running as a team on the Libertarian ticket. If they do this Monday morning, the poll numbers for Gary Johnson could get high enough to get him in the third debate.

Johnsons a idiot, and no, the Liberal faux outrage over Trumps comments pretty much starts and stops with Hillary supporters.

GOP voters aren't looking to abandon their party over something Donald Trump said. Thats absurd.

Time will tell.

And lots of GOP leaders are indeed abandoning Trump as we speak.

Maybe not...................Historically in situations like this...........they just don't show up to vote

Absurd, you say................

GOP leadership worry about if there will be a party left after Trump gets trumped............ and fear the GOP will no longer be a national political party but a regional one
Don't you stay current with the news?

this seems to be another case of you trying to convince yourself that your silly predictions will come true.

we heard that the GOP was finished after the 92 elections

we heard the same crap after 08

the fact is, the Democrats have proven just as inept as the GOP and thus the pendulum moves back and forth

Hillary may well win this election. But I doubt she will win in 2020 if she manages to win this one. Hillary is extremely polarizing and 4 years of people listening to that bitch lie and screech will do wonders for reviving the GOP's chances at a presidential level

I love how liberal are going with the classic conservative attack route to redirect attention from e-mails by Hillary.

I could only access one of the links, but found this (bolding mine):

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Saturday told party officials to redirect funds away from nominee Donald Trump to down-ballot candidates, according to an official informed of the decision. In practical terms, the party will be working to mobilize voters who support GOP House and Senate candidates regardless of their position on the presidential race.

That means the RNC will push Floridians who support both Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican Sen. Marco Rubio to vote. Before today, the RNC wouldn’t have sought to turn out Clinton voters, leaving split-ticket voters for Senate campaigns to target.

--

So it seems the RNC will now GOTV for HRC, if said HRC voters are splitting the ticket with Rubio?

Does anyone know if this would be an appreciable number of votes?

Florida is always close, and without Florida Trump fails. He has no path without Florida. So it seems like they've thrown in the towel on Trump, even to the point of GOTV against him! Yow!

If anything, I'd say the GOP are far superior in their local and statehouse game than the Dems!

If HRC loses, the Dems are truly sunk, positive demographic paths notwithstanding! :doh

Wow. Do you truly believe this nonsense? Do you truly believe there are republicans who support Hillary? That's some delusional **** right there. :lamo

Hey, I didn't make this crap up - that's quoted verbatim from The Wall Street Journal.

But to answer your question, no - there's no delusions, but I believe you haven't considered some options.

It's not out-of-the realm for there to be Dem or HRC voters who may personally liked the job Rubio is doing. I've seen this occur in my area in House districts, so it's not out of the possibility it could occur at the Senatorial level.

And with Trump's historic and astronomic dislike factor, it is not out of the real of possibility for Rubio and Republican supporters to dislike Trump enough to want to vote for HRC. Cf the #NeverTrump movement.

Split-ticket voting is no longer in strong favor, but just a decade or two ago it was commonly 30% nationally. It was 40% under Reagan, and I was one of those Reagan Democrats! (and I was in what is generally considered the most Democratic Party controlled city in the country!)

Mainly because the GOP does better in off year non presidential elections and thus controls most state legislatures in the year ending in zero - which gives them the power for redistricting every ten years. And they gerrymander the hell out of the map giving them that important advantage.

Agreed.

Here's a book I just recently placed in my Amazon cart, for ordering this week, that I believe speaks to this:

Amazon - Ratf**ked: The True Story Behind the Secret Plan to Steal America's Democracy

Despite the funky title, it's gotten excellent reviews.
