Will This Be Trump's October Surprise?

I can't get access to the WSJ story.
What does it say ?

Here you go:

“Donald Trump may have one last tax card to play, and it’s a doozy: his 2015 tax return,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“In little-noticed comments after his first debate with Hillary Clinton, the Republican presidential candidate suggested he would make that return public within weeks.”

“Although Mr. Trump’s campaign didn’t respond to questions about that comment, his latest tax return is likely in the final stages of preparation… He could forgo otherwise allowable deductions to make his tax return more politically palatable. He could do so without imperiling his stated rationale for releasing returns from the recent past, because the 2015 return presumably wouldn’t be under Internal Revenue Service audit at the minute he files it.”

In my opinion, I don't think this is really going to amount to much.

Yeah, I got that.
That was from the linked Taegan Goddard piece on his Political Wire site.
But he had a link to the WSJ source that I couldn't get.
I figured there'd be more in the WSJ piece if anyone checked.
No big deal.

Whoops. Sorry. I can't get the WSJ either. Firewalled.

Nope, not without a 'scrip.

It's whatever. You have to sign in or subscribe to read the full thing anyways.

I know. There are a few publications I gladly pay for. WSJ isn't one of 'em.

Yeah.
And WAPO sets a monthly stipend for accessing their pieces before you reach a limit.
How does that help them?
Does that really work with the folks?

He could forego the deductions, then claim them in an amended return after the election.

Why would ANYONE forego deductions? Trump isn't stupid. The fact that the public is ignorant about our tax laws is just one MORE reason they work for W2s. No one who supports DT gives a damn. And if ou don't support him, he doesn't much care WHAT you think about his tax returns.

He's not under indictment for tax evasion. NO ONE in hei right mind pays more than they legally owe. Get over it. Lordy.

I think the WAPO is 10 per month, or something like that. I don't entirely get the rationale either. I understand that they need to make money. I don't understand how they expect to draw customers for their product when the customer can't view the product before purchasing it. On any given day, 95% of the WAPO is of no interest to me, and it reaches 100% when they want to charge me just to read one article. I'll find another source, or I'll let it go. If it has legs, it'll be reported elsewhere.

I don't think you're both in the same page.

The OP is saying that Trump could publish a tax return without the deductions for political purposes; and then turn around and privately amend the return for financial purposes.

Thank you. That is how I understood it though. It would be stupid and lying to do so, in my opinion.

Relax. You missed the writer's point.

I agree, i think that Trump, if he releases the return, should not plan to amend it.

do you claim tax deductions and tax credits on your tax return?

Do you spend almost twenty years insulting and demonizing people who do not pay taxes, all the while paying none yourself?

Do you stay on subjects?

This whole thing would not be an issue except that Trump made it an issue himself through his actions. See the first sentence in this post? Actually read it this time.

Now again

Now again.

And again.

Capisce?

That's not the point at all.

When did being stupid and lying ever stop him before?
