What Do You Think of the Gadsden Flag?

In the last few years it's turned into a dummy detector, like the confederate flag.

Both the Confederate flag and the Gadsden Flag are historically significant in the history of the nation.

I guess in your eyes (and others) knowing this, thinking this, make one a dummy. So who's dumbing down the nation and the electorate?

It's clear they rely way too much on free speech. If they lived in Russia Putin would have had then suicided already. If they lived in Venezuela they'd be beaten to death in the streets by government thugs. I they lived in Cuba we'd never had heard from them and they'd be in prison or dead.

Whatever you say dude

What they seem to be describing is a criminal gang. I don't see much about ideological inspired attacks on innocent citizens or bombings and so on, or any kind of political agenda at all. These are guys who just want to rob and scam people, cheat on taxes, etc., and use the sovereign citizens argument to justify it all.

Very unimpressive. They could list the Irish Travelers in that category, too. In fact, these guys sound a lot like Travelers, except the Travelers have better lawyers.

Some of those articles go all hysterical speculating about what the SC might do, all sorts of reports about them planning to do this or that, but SC has actually done very little in the way of bona fide terrorist attacks. Planned to kidnap a judge? Yeah, but the judge ruled against them in a case.

To put them on par with Radical Muslim terrorists is absurd. If there were actually hundreds of thousands of violent right wing terrorists out there we'd all know about it.

Ever hear of Oklahoma City?

That killed plenty of people.

Deadliest domestic attack in US history.

Your Sarcasm Warning Indicator Panel must have malfunctioned.

Mine worked great, I was just clarifying for those without one who would take your comment at face value and spend the rest of the day patting themselves on the back for being so "thoughtful"

Some history may be useful.

The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the rattlesnake are the words "DONT TREAD ON ME".

What if someone's great grandfather fought for the South in the civil war, and it signifies remembrance of them?
What if it's in remembrance of the South's civil war dead?

It really doesn't matter. What matters is those that want to fly can, without excessive PC driven molestation.

What of the often asserted, yet never witnessed tolerance of the left?

what if my grandpa and uncles served in the SS? Can I fly those flags? out of remembrance of the dead and to "teach history"?

If you want to. I guess. On your property and all.

My Dad's uncle served in the wehrmacht. He was part of the siege of Moscow. No, I'm not inclined to fly the wehrmacht flag. But if I was inclined to, I think I should be able to.

I've seen that phrase over a snake stretched out along the bottom of the banner too, I think. It's an interesting historical anecdote and might be a cool tattoo but I can't see it as a national flag.
I wonder what made the postal worker think it's racist. Did he think it was a Confederate flag?

We've spent the last 40+ years teaching people, particularly black people, to see racism in every part of American life.

It's not very surprising that stories like this exist.

Why did you do that?

Or one of those sovereign citizen types.

Or a US Navy SEAL. It's actually a pretty common symbol throughout the entire Special Operations community but especially with SEALs.
