This is kind of cool...if you think about it.

GWB, regardless of what you think of his politics, has always struck me of being a Gentleman in his personal life, it would not surprise me.

and he also stated after being elected he wasn't going to publically hound Obama over the job he's doing, because he respects the electoral process. IMO he's a better elder statesman then a president....

Shrub looks to be autistic in all those pics.

This cant be an accident.

I think a lot of the political rancor and hatred exists among us small folk. The big shots in Washington realize its all a game and get along quite well.

I began to figure that one out when Carville married Matalin.

Why hate someone just because their poitics are different?

What most people do not want to believe is that lying is totally out of character for him amd that it od improbable that he would have consistently.

That's sweet. Always good to see people getting along.

The sad thing is what is being said over on the partisan RW sites like FreeRepublic. They are calling Bush a traitor, simply for being freaking human. smh.

I think what has happened is that the truth has set in that he was in fact a horrible President.

Obama is not the only reason Trump is here.

I'm not sure what it is...but, they seem to be extremely miffed that he would make nice with the enemy of all things good, Obama. That has maybe helped them to finally see that he was a bad president, but it is not the reason he was a bad president. It only opened the eyes of the country's dumbest people. Sad, like I said.

You may be hitting the nail on the head there.
Kind of reminds me when I was flying out of Fresno , CA last year. I was waiting to board a plane and had to wait to the arriving passengers all got off. With about 2/3rds of the plane unloaded all of suddent these massive guys started exiting. The passenger in front of me recognized them and asked one if he was fighting tonight and the giant of a man grinned and said Oh Yeah. Found out it was the wrestlers from WWE in town for matches. In a short few hours those guys I saw would be beating the crap out of each other and calling them every name. But most likely they would all have dinner later together and fly on to another city with fans who think these guys hate each other guts.

It is a lot of things, and Trump has a lot to do with most of it, but the main driver I think is that we now know for sure how his invasion of Iraq turned out, and we all these years after the great recession are sure that his economic policy drove us in the wrong direction. Remember that in my estimation the Elite have long been failures, but it is the crazy stupid military excursions and the Great Recession that got the little people to "ENOUGH!" . Bush takes a lot of the blame for both. He no longer gets any benefit of the doubt. Bush has allegedly been out campaigning for R's in Congress, but I dont see where anyone has cared. Trump has spun the narative that he is a failed President, something that the D's have long asserted, and now I think in part because of Trump a lot of those on the right believe it, even if they are not ready to say so.

He might just become the next Carter, the guy no one wants to see, or hear from.

Agreed.

I view Jimmy carter the same.

There are many people like me, not hung up on your rabid partisanship, who have always thought that GW Bush is a genuinely good and generous man, as are all the Bush men and women. And as GW said when his time in the White House ended - he's done with politics. I'm pretty sure a guy like GW never liked politics much and looked at it as a necessary evil.

Unlike others here, I think GW was a pretty good President who served your country in very difficult and tumultuous times and did it with grace, self deprecating humour that eased tensions, and acted in ways that he felt were best for his country if not necessarily best for him personally.

A terrific man, a good President, and an example of an elder statesman that one can only hope President Obama can come close to emulating - but considering President Obama's comments regarding Trump and this election, Obama is likely to be far more Carter than the Bush's and that will be too bad.

I agree. The big shots, as you call them, view each other as all part of the honorable brethren at the top of the political class, despite their political differences.

I do view W himself as a good guy, though. That isn't predicated on his performance as president.

I sill can't thank, but I completely agree. He has class, a class the Clintons could never muster and like all other good presidents before him, he faded into background and kept his opinions to himself.

I agree with your argument that Bush's errors played a large part in our recent troubles, both domestic and abroad, but I do not believe that this is why the alt-Right is mad at him. They seem to be genuinely upset that he is buddying up with Michelle.

They'll get over it. Remember the hate and venom the RW spit at Christie after he hugged Obama after Hurricane Sandy?

Now Christie is hating all things Dem, and is on Trumps bandwagon so the RW loves him again. After Trump loses if GWB attacks Clinton, he'll be in the RW good graces again.

Wrestling is an excellent analogy for politics. Winners are decided beforehand and it's all feigned rivalries and bull****.

On topic, Bush always came across as a nice guy (as much as a consummate politician can be), and that's more than can be said for the current contenders for president.

These two people are not royalty.
We are not living in England.

They are just a former president, and a current first lady.
And neither of them are sterling examples of either category of the species.

I feel no need to genuflect, nor do I wish to bow my head.

What I do feel is bile rising up in the back of my throat.
I really do want to vomit looking at that OP's photo.

You know what?
I wish I could vomit each and every person, thing, and object out of Washington DC and out (very far, 190 miles or so) into the Atlantic Ocean.

Then we could walk into that empty city, re-examine the founding documents, and start all over again.
Hopefully this time with men and women of integrity, honor, and accountability.

That is my wish.
:2wave:

Do you have any links or anything cause I dont see that. THese two families being all chummy helps sell the story that Trump is spinning, so great for The Rebellion, but mostly I think Bush is not worth the energy to get upset about. He sucked. Having the Bush and Clinton royal families constantly running their scams for decades sucks (Though old man Bush is a decent guy). But the bushes dont matter anymore. Hopefully the Clinton's are done too, we just need to show them the door.

PRONTO.

Sure....just read the comments
Who Doesn’t Love This Picture of Michelle Obama Hugging George W. Bush?

The elder Bush is close with Bill Clinton. They vacation together or fish together or something.

The presidential families are members of a small, select group: Former Presidents and their families. There are only a few living Presidents (Carter, Bush Sr, Bush Jr, Bill Clinton, and soon to be Obama...did I miss anyone?). They are the only ones alive who know what each other went through.

Ya, but the optics are very bad now that Presidents dont retire from politics when they leave office.

This helps Trump.
