Can you define what "will do better" means? I think we all know that Hillary is the better debater. So you must mean something else.

Hillary is not a good debater and she is unlikable. She can do nothing but lie or avoid any of the tough questions, all Trump has to do is keep his cool and not say anything stupid. Yea, I know, that is going to be tough lol.

My guess is Hillary is going to use things he has said against him to control the tempo to keep guiding the moderators away from scary issues like "what is your plan for....?"

Trump I think will not take the bait. Although she will have more facts and data than Trump, she lacks passion. She is soulless and robotic. Trump sees economics as a way to create change, Hillary just can't understand why people just don't get it. "It's me, people! Vote for me!" She is anti-change, plus baggage. Lots and lots of baggage.

The swing voter knows where we have been, and may be apprehensive as to where we are going. Hillary sells darkness and status quo, Trump offers change.

Bar is set pretty low for Hillary. All she has to do to win is not pass out.

On any given day even the under skilled candidate can win a debate....so we are talking odds, and who wins is who We The People say won. At the moment I am 65/35 that Trump wins.

If Clinton coughs or even staggers, Trump wins. This election is about image, not issues.

I am not sure how Trump does on one and one "debates." I'm not sure if he has ever done one, but in the early primary debates he did do this. ^

Better than what? The bar is set low, and Trump is already making excuses, if he makes it thru without looking like an amateur his supporters will claim victory.
 
You'll have to define "do better", because the bar is being set so low for Trump all he'll have to do is avoid crapping on his feet.

The same bar that let Hillary become the Democratic nominee? It can't get much lower.

In general - televised Presidential debates aren't 'true-debates' in the terms of technical forensic debating like in H.S. or College, but rather they are image studies as to who appears more in control and 'Presidential'. They are more about the audience feeling and perceiving, than purely technical facts. And no one knows this more, or is better at this type of imagery, than Roger Ailes.

Because of all the above, I believe Trump somewhat controls his own destiny here.

Hillary does have a good command of the facts and is a good technical debater, but she is often cold, unlikable, peevish, plastic, and uninspiring. Trump on the other hand, can be the antithesis of Hillary at times. Warm, likable, personable, inspiring, powerful. If he brings those positive attributes to the debate consistently, without mucking-up, I think he'll stand a good chance of coming away the victor in terms of who walks away with the most positive effect. Trump's expectations bar is set pretty low here too, and he should be able to beat it.

But as with most things Trump, will he? God only knows, but I think he saw the light in August and learned to accept the advice of his campaign reset hires. I think even this narcissistic megalomaniac learned a lesson back there. He learned to play ball and reap the rewards. Now it only remains to be seen if he can indeed keep to his script, and keep his cool.

I believe the debate is his to lose.

That does not matter, Trump needs to stomp, just doing OK will not be good enough.

Also, I think Hillary thinks she knows Trump because she has socialized with him, and because their kids are/were chums, but that she has never seen him do cut throat at the negotiating table.

I am thinking she might get caught not able to think fast enough.
