Has American civility declined?

No, actually he's right. The political parties have switched--- up until the mid 20th century it was the Democrats who were ultra conservative and the Republicans who were the "radicals" so to speak.

They've only switch in the mind of the radical left. Ghettos are the new democrat plantation.

No,nth eve switched in reality. It's unsuprising that a partisan hack like you can't see it. Sad, but unsuprising.

"Has American civility declined?"

Apparently so and this thread proves it. ;)

Yes, civility has declined. I am old and I can remember when any adult in my neighborhood could reprimand me. One night in the summer the adults were sitting on porches and the kids were playing under the streetlight and I said a bad word. "I heard that Patrick and if I hear it again I'm telling your grandmother." "Yes, Ms. McConnell." Now parents and grandparents call their attorney and sue somebody. Now, neighbors often don't even talk to their neighbors. The porch sitting and adults visiting in the evenings ended with television and air conditioning.

I am so old I can remember when blacks and whites could talk to each other. I am so old that I can remember when desegregation was the goal. Now the racists are bringing Jim Crow back with segregated dorms and "safe spaces" for some and "deadly spaces" for others.

I can remember when we were all shocked at Whitman in the tower at the University of Texas. Now that sort of thing isn't ever big news.

I am so old, I can remember when Dr. Martin Luther King talked about the content of a man's character being more important than the color of his skin. Now we have a president for whom color is all that matters.

I am so old I can remember when it was unconstitutional to try a man twice for the same criminal act. I am so old I can remember when lying to a police officer wasn't a crime but lying when you were under oath in court was. I am so old that I can remember when the IRS refused to hound the President's enemies.

I can remember a time before road rage.

Yes, the United States is less civil.

???

I think you and Crazy Crooked Granny need some rest. Sleep tight. :)

I honestly think Americans don't give a **** about other Americans unless it is in their immediate unit of family and friends. I think that is the result of capitalism.
