Red States Feed at the Federal Trough, While Blue States Supply the FeedThe Locust Fork News-Journal | The Locust Fork News-Journal
It bears repeating that the states where anti-federal government, anti-tax fervor is greatest are also the states that benefit the most from federal tax money and spending policies from Washington, D.C. For example, while Alabama is one of the top five most conservative states in the country on many measures, it receives $1.61 back in federal money for every $1 it sends to Washington in tax money.

You do realize that a lot of these red states have military bases in them right?

And that is where a lot of those federal dollars go

When I have time I will link that part of the study.....

If God was going to give the world an enima, my state is where he would stick the hose.

The Lord taketh, and the Lord giveth away. Maybe we should just eliminate much of the federal trough and let the states handle it themselves. I also noticed that the fellow at Locust Fork had an awful lot to say about himself, followed by a request for donations. Now that's ironic.

That doesn't fit the narrative dude...

My state unfortunately is near the very top of the "net payer" list.

so why does the Democrat party pander to those who want more and more government while the GOP panders to those of us who want less government, less taxes taken from what we earn and less stuff of ours given to those who vote for the Democrats?

I thought that was New Jersey. or Arkansas.

I used to believe in that theory but not anymore, the simple fact is most blue states contain large cities, most red do not, and when you think about the products that rural america makes like food and mining and lumber, the initial harvesters make very little of the money that will be made on those products, like for example over 60 % of the cost of any given food product is marketing, branding or refining, all functions of agencies located in cities, only a few pennies on the dollar actually go to the farmers.

In other words, it's the urban business living high on the hog

Or the Carolinas, but there are some places even God avoids...

well we used to note that Jesus could not have come from Kentucky because even God couldn't find three wise men or a virgin in that state!

That speaks a very well known truth that the conservative set does not want to acknowledge for obvious reasons. They say that they have all the answers, yet the highest poverty rates are in the deep south in Red territory, so that tells you everything you need to know.

As for my state of California, we supply the 6th largest economy in the world, so that sends a message too.

The funniest, well actually saddest part of Red state economic policies is that, while they take the most money from the government, they tell everybody else that "big gummit" is evil and sucking up everybody's hard earned money.

Do red states have more military than blue or more accurately does our gov invest more money in military bases stationed in red states? It would not surprise if they do considering red states are generally more pro military.

California is the 6th largest economy on the planet and is pretty damn good shape. It's weird that conservatives like to complain about California so much when it's such an economic powerhouse. We have enormous agricultural, construction, and manufacturing businesses, and California is the center of the tech universe. If a business can't make it out here, oh well. There are obviously many others who have. It's an extremely competitive state because there's so much money in it.

We certainly have our problems out here, but our problems occur on a scale similar to a powerful western European nation. For example, our GDP ($2.4 trillion) just surpassed France.

It's also a beautiful state with geography as varied as any place in the world. It's actually true that you can surf in the morning in Laguna and be strapping on snow skis in Big Bear just a few hours later. We have deserts, beaches, forests of all variety. And the weather certainly beats the crap out of most other states. Personally, I find the sunshine down here in SoCal to be monotonous because it's like that almost every day. So I'm gonna move the coast to central California where it's a little cooler, it rains more often, and the fog rolls in off the ocean sometimes in the morning.

So talk all the crap you want about California. No here cares.
