Clinton says she regrets calling Trump supporters 'deplorables'

Hillary Clinton expressed “regret” Saturday for saying half of Republican presidential rival Trump’s supporters could be put into a "basket of deplorables."

Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, said in her apology that she was “grossly generalistic” in criticizing Trump supporters, using that same phrase Friday night when attacking them at a New York fundraiser.

“That's never a good idea,” she said Saturday.

If rejecting Hillary makes me deplorable -- I'm all in!
 
Regret? More like she regrets that she said it out loud, where people recorded it. Notice that she didn't actually retract the statement or say she was wrong about what she said about US citizens.
 
Regrets only suggesting half, since we've all had ample time to see what and who he represents. She should have said "handbasket"!

Anyone distressed by her terminology need not complain about "trigger warnings" ever again.

Debates over terminology aside, I don't see how any of this helps the Clinton campaign. Anything that doesn't help the campaign this close to the election is a bad mistake.

Perhaps when you get your own distressed house in order, you will be in a better position to tell others what to do in theirs?

CORRECT!

I am hoping she continues to make these grossly miscalculated mistakes.
 
She should regret it, as she engaged in the same sweeping generalizations that Trump does. Of course they will not face the same degree of criticism for doing so, but at least she owned up to the stupidity while with Trump it is full steam ahead.

Agreed. I don't necessarily disagree with her statement but disparaging voters can only hurt a campaign.

She's about as sincere as any of those Trump supporters saying "Oh, it's OK Hillary. We'll vote for you."

Hillary's line of "basket of deplorables" was planned and she did it because she could score points with it. One when it came back to bite her in the ass does she try and walk it back. Had it not bit her in the ass, she'd not have mentioned it again, and would have probably used is it again.

She's been fine with saying it in previous events, she's only walking it back because members of the press were in the room and recorded it. Makes people wonder what she said to those bankers with all those speeches.

your comment has no relationship to my comment. did you know clinton and trump are in different parties?
 
It's a different standard. She is expected to behave like a mature human being, while Trump is permitted to hold forth with the same level of discourse as a drunk fratboy.

But will it cost her any votes or swing states? That's what matters. Did any Hillary supporters hear it and suddenly decide to switch to Trump?

With this election it's hard to believe there are any number of significant swing voters left.
