Oh, definitely not paid.

To tell the truth, who is elected really never effected me.
They had no effect on how I fulfilled my dreams and goals.

Maybe! I joined the British army at aged 16, deployed to Iraq aged 18. Bought into the god and country narrative but it really hasn't got me anywhere. Don't get me wrong I have a great family, a nice house which I pay a nice mortgage on and I go on nice holidays. But the idea that my own destiny is in my hands is long gone, no matter what it seems you join a certain line and put your head down.

Seeing how badly your nations military has degraded at lightning speed has to be a kick in the crotch when you think back to what you were told at the time....

True however the core of the British military is always strong. The RAF was underfunded/undermanned during the battle of Britain, my uncle who served on the Coventry during the Falklands told me about how US sailors he met on deployment were betting against us taking an island back thousands of miles away from our waters. Even in Basra where I served we were ill equipped for the COIN we were facing but our officers expierence in Northern Ireland etc pulled us through.

I'm not worried about the military as they always pull though and have done for nearly 1000 years, I'm worried about what they will lead our boys into.

Interesting that you say that because just a week ago I was reading someone say that today the military could marshal only a third of the forces that they used then.

EDIT: WHAT is REALLY scary is that even with as bad as the Brit forces are today most say that the EU is in even worse shape. No wonder Putin thinks he can get away with murder.

I mean its not ideal but we still have a backbone. The type 45's are fierce, the Astute class subs are top of the line and we have carriers just no planes ( yet).

I actually think the British military have done well considering the budgets cuts and have adjusted to modern warfare. The next great war isn't going to be won by troops or even fighter planes, its going to be won with smart weapons and intel. We still have communication bases worldwide in countries like Cyprus etc which are heavily used by the CIA.

Namasnegatay. (The negativism and despair in me, recognizes and honors the negativism and despair in you.) :/

Greetings, Goshin. :2wave:

There are millions of us, but the system never changes - maybe it's because the "system" makes the all the rules, and the only reason we are even included is to pay all the bills, including the six-figure salaries they are paid for being there about six months a year, often breaking the rules and laws they themselves made? :bs:

Can never tell if this is sarcasm or not but I will take it lol. Grew up in a military family, served in the military and always have a finger on that pulse. It's important to know.

Nope, PROPS TO U.

I crave smart aware people who can teach me.

You impress.

I haven't posted much political content over the past 12 months because I found myself becoming very isolated from the political landscape. As many of you know I'm from the UK and the last 12 months have been very fractured due to the Brexit vote. Now I voted to leave the EU because I believed that by doing so the working/middle class could take back some political power and attempt to carve out our own future away from the bureaucrats. It was a narrative that I bought into and was very happy with the vote, but as the months tick by I have heard little on how we are going to become independent and in truth have had no reassurance from my government that this separation will actually happen. Even if the brexit is to happen I think its going to be so watered down in order to protect the big banks that it will have no really effect on my life. I mean in the past couple of days even Japan have been trying to influence how we break away because no matter what happens Globalization always comes out on top.

Now the world is witnessing yet another American election and we are being led to believe that this is the biggest election of our time, Clinton is a criminal that can't be trusted and Trump the bigot/Nazi that is hell bent on starting WW3. But really what will it change?

It seems that every election cycle we hear the doomsday verses and how each candidate will change things for the better but what really changes? I mean the housing market decline was set in motion during the 1980's, warnings were ignored, presidents etc elected and the wheel kept on spinning until the economic collapse. In that 30 year period no elected official from any major western country dared address this issue.
Foreign policy we see countries wade in to countries like Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, Afghan, Libya etc. They make the same mistakes, someone runs against them and promises the people it wont happen again and then it does. I mean even humanitarian issues like Rwanda the whole world stopped and said no more until it happened in the Balkans no long after and now in Syria. Western citizens are extremely alarmed by the climate crisis and yet election after election little to nothing is done.

The one constant is that me and you go to work, pay taxes and then die. Maybe I'm being extremely negative but I just feel like a hamster on the wheel.
Hang in there my freind elections do matter. We need to not think short term. This is a long term fight that takes mutiple elections to win. The people at the top have made it this way by design and they will make it as painfull of a process as they can for you. They dont just happily give up their power. It has to be pried from their gtip one finger at a time.

If i recall correctlu the Brixet vote has a 2yr window before you will actually be able to seperate from the EU and even than it will be contiguent on a vote. You voted to have tbe right to opt out of the EU in 2yrs. Count on the powers that be to punish your defiance of them if you continue and some sort of treat if you fall back in line and sgop threatening to remove their power.

I expect the same kind of nonsense to occur in American politics if trump is elected. The tea party has been getting attacked for 8 yrs now but they are making a difference. Keeping vote out bad guys until you find good guys to represent you and when you finally get enough of them you will see the needed changes happen

Trump was not supposed to matter.

Crazy Bernie was not supposed to matter.

But guess what, the American people had other ideas.

HELL YES, VOTES MATTER!

Trump will get his butt handed to him in November and fade out of politics.

Wait and see.

Wait and see.

So you keep saying.

And then I say "We'll See".

I am waiting for the day when you have thread contributions of significance to add.

I have been bored lately, I need someone to argue with, and you seem to hate my beliefs.

The six figure salaries don't bother me... the pay is reasonable for running a country. It is also only the tip of the iceberg for those willing to put their hand out in exchange for their integrity.

It is the corruption, the millions that change hands under the table buying their votes, and their immunity from their own laws that is driving me out of my mind.
