Santa Clara Police Union Threatens Boycott of 49ers Games Over Kaepernick Protest

A store owner being oppressed by Michael Brown

No, he's not ****ting on that at all. Absolutely no part of his protest is directed at fallen soldiers.

His "protest" absolutely is doing so. The anthem represents this country and all those who have fought and died for her over the years. Disrespecting that is in fact what he's doing.

Our country was founded on protest and disobedience to oppression. Yes, it's American to protest oppression.

What "oppression"?

How is Colin Kaepernick, a millionaire, whose made his money from playing a friggin game, being "oppressed"?

The fact that he's a fan of Fidel Castro shows he couldn't tell what oppression was if it reached out and kicked him in the guts.

absolutely the right to protest is american, you must be new here

English must be new to you. The act of protesting itself is not American, the right is. If someone protests for things that are opposed to the concept of America then it is not American.

If that's what you think he's doing.

Tell us just how Colin has been oppressed

Tell us just how Michael Brown was oppressed
You don't know their personal lives. Just because he's a millionaire now doesn't mean he didn't see oppression. And it doesn't matter anyway because even if he wasn't personally oppressed, that doesn't mean he can't stand up for those who are. Your comment is irrelevent.

He's totally oppressed, he lost his starting job to some white dude which we all know is only because he's part black and coaches hate QBs with any of that "black blood," in em! Plus he was forced into a privileged life because he's poor young single Mom gave him up, how dare she!

I know right? It can't be because nowadays he sucks at playing football or anything like that. No, the answer is oppression, I tell you.

Opppression!!!!!

So who exactly are the oppressed he might be sitting down for, he certainly was not standing up. And exactly how are they oppressed?

It's sad liberals can't even read a headline. The police didn't say they wouldn't work the games. The police union said that. The police union has control over union members. I wonder if all the cops are union members. They were on my department. The union exists to protect the incompetent, corrupt, lazy, and brutal police officers. Some of the others go their own way.

Sigh.

Is Colin allowed to protest someone else being oppressed?

Ahh, so rich people can't protest or criticize America. Got it.

When their criticism not only has no basis in reality but also shows how dumb they are? Yep.

Colin Kaepernick's decision to speak out against racial injustice and police brutality, as well as direct critical words at officers across the nation, has the Santa Clara police union saying its officers might stop working San Francisco 49ers home games.
NBC Bay Area obtained a letter, penned by union members, to the San Francisco 49ers stating that if the organization does not take action against Kaepernick, "it could result in police officers choosing not to work at your facilities."

I think it's a bluff to some extent and I support them. But that money is a huge, extra paycheck.

Awesome I hope the police force members lose a lot of money

They will if they decide to go through with this.

Naw they wont its just a moon lighting job, they still have their full time full pay job!

Thing is, when I was a cop in the Bay Area, all our moonlighting jobs paid exactly the same as our full time cop job.
16 hour days were common, 8 hour regular shift and 8 hour extra job. They have gone to 10 or 12 hour days now, so I don't know about any restrictions they may have, for too many hours w/o sleep.

So the police are basically saying they won't be there to do their duty, by assisting in the protection of thousands and thousands of people because of the actions of one dude.

It's not their duty...it's a private venue contract.

Thats got to be good news for TLM, there wont be any cops shooting innocent black people.

Yep.

I guess the 49ers will just have to hire a private security force for the games.

That is what they will do and the cops are cutting their nose off to spite their face. This kind of gig is what paid for our nice homes, fancy cars and private schools for the kids. Not to mention some great vacations.

Its their right not to work an event that is put on by a private run business ...said business can hire security

Correct.

Colin Kaepernick should be super happy..no evil Pigs around to oppress black people

Should be...

Talk about the PC Police — literally. What a bunch of whiny sissy babies! I mean all involved.

It is that...

Go home black people. There's no actual problem here. This white guy on the internet says so.

If you want to look at actual oppression in action-- in Africa alone--- rather than this idiocy, take a look at South Sudan. Or Eritrea. Or Zimbabwe. Or Sudan. Or Angola.

Or Cuba, for that matter. Oh wait. Kaepenick thinks Castro is a swell guy.

Looks like somebody doesn't know what oppression is.

Did Colin Kaepernick claim that he, personally, is "oppressed"?

PROTIP: No, he did not.

Ah, but he did make claims about "oppression" of a group; claims which were ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that, once again, he's a Fidel Castro fan, indicating whatever he says about oppression can be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't give a **** if he's a "fan" of Chairman Mao. It doesn't make anything he said more or less correct.

Actually, it does actually. It has a lot to do with it.

Somebody who thinks Castro's some bastion of progress is going to have a very warped view of what oppression is, and as a result he loses whatever credibility he would have had on the subject

Kaepernick is flat out wrong.
