“I am planning to take it a step further, I’m currently working with organizations to be involved, and making sure I’m actively in these communities, as well as donating the first million dollars I make this year to different organizations to help these communities and help these people,”

Kaepernick says he?ll give $1 million to charity | ProFootballTalk

God bless Kaepernick. You have these athletes making millions of dollars afraid to speak the truth and take a stand. They are afraid of hurting their brand, losing money, and challenge the status quo.

Good on him. He's still an idiot, though.

He is still talking about a future event to keep his name in the news.

We will see if it still happens.

An idiot for mentioning racially inequality, police brutality, and the sad condition of our military?

Yeah I just don't get the blind idolatry of our police and military. How about transferring that worship to teachers or paramedics?

My question is which of these charities will stop the opression that Kaepernick is concerned about?

Moveon.org or Black Lives matter would be a good start but to end oppression we need to start with the law. There are many thing we can do to curb stomp bad actors in the police and body cameras is the least of them.

..and $1,000,000 for some who will make about $12,000,000 this year is pretty much pocket change. If he really cared about poor black people, he'd do something that required a sacrifice on his part. All this is is a self-aggrandizing "Sorry for doing nothing until I'm forced to." show. If he really cared about young poor black people, he'd donate $20-30 million and maybe back off on his lifestyle some to fund it. This is nothing but a PR move....

An idiot for doing nothing but talking about until he embarrassed himself and had to throw out a meaningless (to him) $1,000,000 apology payment.

News flash.

Black people aren't oppressed in this country.

I really don't care that he didn't stand up for the Anthem, I'm just annoyed at his reason for why he did it.

Try again:
Colin Kaepernick Contract Details, Salary Cap Breakdowns, Salaries, Bonuses | Spotrac

His first three years, he made over $30 million (including his signing bonus). He could drop $20,000,000 with ease if he was willing to, especially since over the next 4 years he's got a guaranteed income of well over $50,000,000.

FAIL.

1) Taxes.
2) He will be cut this year. NFL contracts are not guarantined and in his case there is ZERO guaranteed money unless he gets injured which is why he won't see the field.

I have schooled you again

Kaepernick is abusing the media microphone and should be ignored completely with respect to anything that doesn't have to do with his sports performance.

How many teachers have died from IEDs?

People just don't like it when the police are falsely accused of wrongdoing, like with "hands up don't shoot". If BLM is so righteous why do they have to spread lies?

Sure, there are a few police who deserve to be prosecuted, and they do get prosecuted. Just as there are hundreds of black men who have killed other blacks. A lot of them don't get caught though, because their communities sometimes won't cooperate in tracking them down.

If CK is serious about saving the lives of black people he might mention the "don't snitch" movement.

I don't see how this remediates his stance as to not respect the nation and the flag. It's not like respect can be bought by donations to charity.

I support his right to do what he did. However, it's a real disgrace considering that in no other country on this planet could he go and make the obscene amount of money he's making to play football. He needs to show some respect and gratitude to be given that kind of opportunity.
