I just fail to see this as something rising to the level that should cause me to be concerned about the kid's welfare.

I didn't say it wasn't creepy.

I'm saying that I don't see it as being child abuse or endangerment or sexual exploitation or anything that causes me to be concerned for the welfare of the kid.

I think a lot of things/people are creepy but that doesn't make them criminal.

Have you ever been to a rural Walmart?

80%+ of the people there creep me the hell out, but I don't think they're necessarially criminals.

Because usually, with child molesters, what they 'show' to other people is often a sliver of what they're really doing or thinking. They tend to go over a lifetime with keeping it to themselves. But then they dip into their interests a bit (a joke here, seemingly innocent comment there) and that gets them more relaxed. In private they might start engaging in more. Over time they let their guard down and what they're truly interested in, sexually, slips.

This is why CPS has standards, concerns, and guidelines when it comes to deciding who they'll investigate and why-for.

Now all is good and well if they investigate and see 'oh it was no big deal / the situation just seemed worse than it was'. That's always what I hope for. But, kids being innocent victims - and frequent victims - of pedophiles, they need a voice. CPS and concerned outsiders are often their only hope if they're truly being violated.

Yeah, I don't think Huma shares any blame in this whatsoever. Weiner seems to have an insatiable desire, not for sex, but to expose himself to strangers. This fetish destroyed his image, destroyed his career, destroyed his future, destroyed his family and destroyed his marriage. She could have banged this guy every night and he still would have done this stuff.
