Colin Kaepernick had every right to sit down during the Pledge

Do not feel sorry for me, I am simply better informed than most people. The changes that would make this country a better place would start with the citizens fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens. You see the average American is a lazy, ignorant, farm animal that is completely ignorant of the laws, history, and the principals and meaning of the Constitution.

The people are supposed to be the gatekeeper of freedom by keeping the government accountable for its actions. Instead, we have a nation of freeloaders who want the government to be their surrogate parent. Everyone is looking for a government handout of some kind, either direct or indirect. Everybody wants to trample the rights of others to get what they personally want.

When someone does stand up and call BS on the system, the farm animals all stand up and demand they be sacrificed.

For being "better informed", why so vague? In your view, what is the citizens responsibility?

Interesting how you hold such a low view of the "average American". Since you claim your "better informed", it would be interesting what sources you used to come to your conclusion regarding the "average American"

I can agree there are some who are free loaders and wanting handouts. That imo does not make up the majority of "average Americans". By your posts, you must have been shafted by someone to make you so negative. Most people I know are "average" and are hard working, ethical people.

Back to the OP. What Colin does on his own time is his business. Since the NFL has no policy stating players must stand , then Colin is within his rights to sit.
That said.

I believe Colin is a spoiled , rich , player who has never really worked a day in his life outside of football. If he has been held back by "the man", it is interesting he was so willing to take the money. I have a right to say I disagree on how he wants to show his disapproval of how American has treated minorities. imo, he should grow up.

No, they are not a "poor American".

They are exercising THEIR right to free speech.

It is only free speech if what you voice what he believes.. Seems Jdog has a double standard.

People have no right to be offended by Colin Kaepernick's protest when he sat out the Pledge of Allegiance. He has every right to express his shame of the policy's of the government.
People who call for his banishment from the NFL are opposing the very rights that the USA was founded on. They do not want a free country, they want a country where everyone pretends we are all united and that tramples the rights we are supposed to have.

He has the right to express himself, that I will agree with. It is idiotic to state that he is the only one with that right. Companies that have hired him for endorsements have every right to fire him. Other companies have every right to hire him because of his refusal. People have every right to boycott those companies if they do or if they don't.

No, they are trying to restrict his right to express his opinion. They do not have that right.

They are not restricting his right. They have the right to have an opinion and express it just as much as he does.

Yes I do, the difference is the intent of the action. In law, intent is important. Kaepernick was expressing his opinion, and we all have the right to do that. When someone tries to suppress that right through intimidation or slander, then they are going against the spirit of freedom of speech and individual freedom of opinion.

How has he been slandered? Please provide a link.

What I understand you to say is that if a person has an opinion first nobody is allowed to offend that person by having a countering opinion because it is intimidation. Is that right?

If you are offended by the exercising of freedom, then logically, you are offended by freedom. If you are offended by freedom how do you reconcile that with being an American? An American is not someone who lives in America, it is someone who agrees with, and stands for the principals this country was founded on.

Taking action against someone for expressing their freedom is an act of repression of freedom and not compatible with American principals. You see that is the whole problem, the National Anthem is a meaningless hollow gesture. We do not support freedom in this country any more, we support mass murder for profit, suppression of rights, and blind Nationalism in the name of the imbecilic belief that what ever we do is right.....

You have done something that nobody else ever has. You have people that never agreed on ANYTHING agreeing and that agreement is that you are wrong.

Not at all. People can be 'offended' by the douchebag antics of a rich privileged douchebag just as that rich privileged douchebag can claim he is 'offended' by a racist country. You (and he) live in a country where you are free to be a douchebag if you like. God bless America.

Go study the law, and come back when you can discuss issues with some intellect.....

I've read every post in your "debate" with Deuce, and it's quite clear that the one who is discussing this issue without any intellect is you, not Deuce.

Everything he has said has been spot on. You may want to learn something about the way we work in America from his posts.

People have no right to be offended by Colin Kaepernick's protest when he sat out the Pledge of Allegiance.

1. Wasn't the pledge
2. People have just as much right to be "offended by" or criticize Kaepernick's protest as he has to do it.

He has every right to express his shame of the policy's of the government.

He absolutely does. And people have every right to express shame in his actions.

People who call for his banishment from the NFL are opposing the very rights that the USA was founded on.

Calling for his banishment from the NFL over this is idiotic, I agree. That said, his exit from the NFL, if and when it happens, will have to do with him sitting on the bench...but not because of any protest.

Clearly. Jdog doesn't understand that people have the right to criticize Kaepernick's actions.

The freedom doesn't just go one-way.

If someone is offended by someone exercising their right to right to protest, then they are a poor American, and secretly desire a totalitarian state where decent is crushed.

So by your logic, what would that make you if you seemingly are acting offended by people exercising their right to protest as it relates to their displeasure with Kaepernick?

Nope. People have every right to be offended, and they have the right to call for his suspension. Getting $20 million for being an NFL quarterback is not a right. There is no such thing as a right to say something stupid and offensive without facing any consequences for it.

If someone is offended by someone exercising their right to right to protest, then they are a poor American, and secretly desire a totalitarian state where decent is crushed.

This is completely idiotic. A citizen has the right to speak out. He does not have the right to a positive reaction to what he says. People who say stupid, hurtful and offensive things can and do by rights face negative consequences for it.

Where in the hell was he the last couple of years? What just set him off now? He was OK to stand for the national anthem over the last two years but now all of a sudden he is ashamed of our country? What's really going on here is that he has nothing left to offer in his abilities to play football so he has to make the headlines in some other way. He is now nothing but a loser both on and off the field. He should be proud to be an American. Where else can someone become a millionaire quarterback while having no talent?

And it shows another whining millionaire that thinks he was slighted when he was in kindergarten and needs a safe zone ! If he thinks this Country is so bad why not leave ? What has he done to make things better ? Is he dissatisfied with our black President ?

People have the right to be offended just like he has the right to sit down in protest.....it's called freedom of speech.....however...if a person believes in freedom of speech - why be offended when a person practices that right?

What I found most offensive related to this incident was the idiot interviewed on CNN saying this guy should move to Canada...why on earth does anyone think they have the right to tell a US citizen to go live some where else if they don't like how things are done here? And why always Canada?...what makes people think Canada is sitting across the border with open arms ready to take in dissatisfied voters or those perceived to be unpatriotic?

They do. Now instead of only pro football fans knowing who he is, this ass Kaepernick is known to many as the ass that he is.

:usflag2:

This means you don't support the freedoms this country was founded on, because you are expressing disapproval of their disapproval.

It seems to me that you are saying that you, Deuce, disapprove of JDog saying he disapproves of a whole lot of of disapproving. Anyway your country - which I like an admire - was founded on the right of 'white' men to enslave 'black' men so it might be as well to stop going on about all those supposed Freedoms.

Not if they support the freedoms this country was founded on.

You obviously don't support the freedoms this country was founded on so why should we be impressed by your demands. The jackass has a right to sit through the National Anthem. Anyone who is offended has that right, too. When I was in high school I refused to stand when the band played "Dixie" but I wasn't such a jackass that I was upset, surprised, or offended that my behavior offended. That was the whole point.

This football player would be sitting at home wondering what he could do now if the media had ignored his childish behavior and no one was offended.

And, if the reaction from the fans is such that his contract is negatively effected, that's fine, too. That's his choice and in America he can make that choice.

For what it's worth, JDog, I am highly offended by the jackasses that burned businesses in Ferguson, Missouri, as a protest. I'm offended by jackasses who go into restaurant to disrupt, insult, and harass people having dinner as a protest. I am offended by liberals who storm stages and assault people to prevent them from speaking. And, I am offended by jackasses who feel they can dictate to me what can and can't offend me.

JDog, you might be a U.S. citizen, you might be a Democrat, you are certainly a liberal, and you are no American. You haven't read the Constitution and you are not at all offended by Barack Obama. You can't be. According to you it's unAmerican to be offended.

So Donald Trump has a right to say that all Mexicans are rapists and if you don't vote for him you're pissing all over the rights and freedoms this country was founded on.

if he would have called a press conference, and spoke his mind about his issue....no one would have minded

but your first amendment rights stops when you clock in for your job

for that time, what you say, can and will be held against you by your boss, and the organization you work for

he works for the 49'ers and for the NFL...who every year put football sized flags on their fields to represent that they too, are part of americana

he damaged that for the 49'ers and the NFL....and he will pay in one respect or another

if he can done it another way off the field...and just called a press conference....he would have been fine

but no...he had to show he was better....well now, we will see what the commish has in store for him

Colin Kaepernick signed a 6 year, $114,000,000 contract with the San Francisco 49ers, including a $12,328,766 signing bonus, $61,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $19,000,000.

Oh the poor black man, this country has oppressed him so badly, how can he live with?
