People are quick to jump on conspiracy theories instead of facts. There's no proof Wendi Deng Murdoch is dating Putin. Just rumors.
 
I think the more American and Russian leaders' 'people' get along the better.

Heck of a lot less chance of war if leaders are on good terms...usually.

And I am not the slightest bit worried that Trump is in Putin's back pocket.


So this photo is no big deal to me. Mildly interesting - but that is it.

Now find me one where they are making out...now that would interest me.

I feel I am entitled to some latitude here, as there are plenty of self-identified conservative republicans who get called fake conservative "RINOs" by other self-identified conservative republicans. How's a "slight liberal" to know who's genuine?



More seriously....yeah, I know what you mean. I'm not sure even he knows what he really believes. These days, his public persona is angry Republican who adopts more extreme positions on some right issues than "bona fide" conservatives (ie, Cruz). But in 1999, he proposed a one-time wealth confiscation to pay off the debt, an authoritarian socialist proposal if there ever was one.

I also know that people aren't fungible, but it really does get to me how the average view of Putin expressed in debate boards or expressed by politicians who are Republians has flopped back and forth, seemingly dependent on who is in office when Putin (and/or Medvedev) misbehaves. It's not like Putin has changed.

Yup, nobody really knows what Trump is, because his history and historic behaviors and positions are anything BUT Republican in nature. I won't try to saddle you liberals with him so I won't even call him a liberal. I don't know what the hell he is, and I'd bet money he doesn't either. Or he knows, and he simply doesn't care.

That man has been thriving on the 3-ring circus he's created, the adoration of his screaming fans, and the 24/7 incessant news coverage. The man loves to be talked about. He loves being the center of attention. He hasn't even started to run a true Presidential campaign and we're less than 3 months from the election. All he's been doing is flying his big private jet to locations like Connecticut and Maine and Illinois where he has as much chance of winning as my husband has of morphing into Brad Pitt overnight.

:shrug: Putin is indeed a very serious opponent of the United States - one who has had multiple major successes in the past few years because of a feckless US administration.
