Hillary Names A White Guy As Running Mate: Supporters Unhappy

I disagree, she assumes the Sandernistas will vote for her and not the greens especially after Trump picked a social conservative. so she selected someone who wouldn't scare moderates-epecially moderate men away like Warren would the biggest issue with Kaine is that he was a big fan of the NRA sponsored Project exile which caused many black felons caught with guns to get serious federal time. Lots of black activists were extremely hostile to this program and claimed it was racist. Brown would have helped her in Ohio even though it would have cost the Dems a senate seat. Pence will help Trump in Ohio

i really don't see how she has the sanders vote down. This will be a seriously low turn out for the young. She figures she has an outside chance at virginia now? Apparently Kaine speaks spanish, but how many hispanics were gonna vote for trump? The idea she has to win moderates after she's been a bland centrist all her life is also crazy to me, but after the crazy vilification she faces from trump, who will brand her a socialist/commie/fascist/muslim she will be more concerned with securing moderates than winning back disillusioned sanders enthusiasts...which would result in both failing to win them and scaring off those moderates

No, I know hsi accomplishments....it's just....there's no *zazzle* there. You know?

He is someone who could take the reigns if it is ever needed and he is a far better speaker than T or P and in Spanish too no less. He also has blue collar appeal. Trump is going to try and win the rustbelt.

The young never turn out anyway and they WON'T be turning out for Trump. That is what counts. Trump has narrow appeal mostly to white males they key is to deny him other groups. He can't win with just white males.

Pretty clear that her 'safe' choice of a moderate Dem indicates she's very comfortable with her chances of winning.

If she were worried at all about it, she'd have gone with Warren or Brown or someone like that.

That doesn't make sense. She needs to pull more centerist votes, no more wackos.

So you're saying she's playing identity politics because she didn't play identity politics? Or are you saying that you're upset she didn't play identity politics?

Pretty sure he's saying he doesn't give a **** but the identity politics, that is a central pillar of the Democrats, has caused a white dude being picked not to be optimal.

If he wasn't optimal then why did she pick him? Just for fun?

Perhaps to repay a favor? Perhaps Terry "The Punk" McAuliffe pulled some strings.

Or maybe she picked him because he's very qualified. And he's likable, which Hillary generally isn't.

I just don't understand why this thread was even started. ****ing pointless. To bitch about such stupid petty bull****.

Very few threads are useless. You are as able as anyone to add new posts and steer a thread in your direction.

So she did the same thing as trump. Picked a vp that would moderate her and make her try to look better.
She still has to deal with being her.

That is a huge hump that no vp could overcome.

Basically still the same as Trump. He still has to deal with being him and I'm not sure Pence can overcome that.

Isn't bitching about stupid petty bull**** what DP is for?

We know darn well why the thread was started. It's another "but...but..LIBERALS" thread.

Anyone who supports Hillary Clinton was unhappy at the onset and will continue to be unhappy after she's elected president.
Perish The Thought!

If he wasn't optimal then why did she pick him? Just for fun?

Because she needs to get more votes than just from wacko identity-politics-driven Democrats? It may represent a lose-lose situation.

This is where identity politics fails. There's no such thing as a white black brown red male female gay straight bi cis and trans gendered person who one can name as one's running mate. There's no way to pander to all the fragments of the Democratic coalition using that. The best one can do is name a self deprecating white male who is shot through with white guilt and grovels before every other identity group.

But that's not good enough these days.

Their minority experiment failed miserably, so they didn't want to go down that road again.

You can't really blame them.

What crap? She has taken the hit on the emails, and with the convention, and Trump is still even to a little behind. What else do you think is going to happen? The wikileaks **** no one but Sandernistas and Trump people care about?

If Trump is so horrible, why is she even or just a little ahead?

She had a huge problem with Sanders, and now she has the same problem with Trump.

I could be dead wrong about this election, but my gut tells me that there isn't a hope in hell that Trump is the next President.

Why are they even in polling then?

Shouldn't Hillary be way ahead?

Well, not a superstar...but someone who ADDS something? You know like Biden adds experience to Obama, And Cheney adds foreign policy/nat security experience to Bush. I don't see Kaine adding anything other than a warm body. Am I missing something?

He adds his own scandals is that enough?

I wonder if she picked him because he had less scandals than anybody else.

Let me see...

Tim Kaine was elected governor of Virginia, before that he was lieutenant governor of Virginia, before that he was the mayor of Richmond.

As democratic senator from Virginia he is on the foreign relations committee.

Look at his record and list of achievements, he is hardly a boring choice.

I find it interesting she picked somebody with foreign relation experience, when she was Sec of State and that should be her area.

I agree. I like what I've read about the guy and he comes across as a very good choice. With that being said, I never base my decision on the VP. Never.

I saw part of the rally yesterday.

He knows how to speak to a crowd, she does not.

I expect her to be seated and he to be speaking whenever they are together.

The election really hasn't started yet - doesn't until late August/September when kids get back in school and parents get back to work after the summer. Clinton hadn't even named a running mate until this weekend so no polling considered that. And the national polls really don't matter much. Trump isn't really as close when you add in the two independents - Johnson and Stein - who take away mostly from Trump and some from Clinton.

I can't see Trump winning the electoral college vote - there's no way he runs the table on important states. Clinton did herself a favour with Kaine, securing Virginia and likely swaying a lot of others in key States. Pence does virtually nothing in that regard.

Wait until late next week and see what the polls say after the DNC convention and watch as the Clinton lead grows. I'll be gobsmacked if Trump stays close throughout the fall.

But let's also remember, with both these characters, there's lots in the closet that could explode out and change the whole narrative going forward.

All three characters.

Kaine has yet to be investigated, and his scandals will come out, not that anybody will care.

In 2008, **2 million** more in the 18-29 turned out for Obama than 2004. They would do so again if Hillary could inspire them the way Obama did and Sanders does. That's 2 million lost votes. They usually don't turn out because politicians like Hillary are so bought off by corporate interests (i.e. her top 3 donors are banks), but they have proven they will do so when that is not the case

Maybe. And you could be right. I just don't see him as anything but a vanilla choice. A 'safe' choice.

Isn't safety what the people want? They certainly should. Most people realize that when things get overturned by chaos the weak and vulnerable are the ones that suffer.

Safety is good...but I don't think it moves the 'motivation' needle, you know? It's not secret that Hillary's campaign is severely lacking in the enthusiasm arena. A better pick might have helped that.
