Alcohol AGE 21..Voting AgE 18 = HYPOCRITCAL also proves liberalism comes from unwise

Re: Alcohol AGE 21..Voting AgE 18 = HYPOCRITCAL also proves liberalism comes from un

Why in the WORLD to run for president one has to be at least what age?? is it 35? and has to be naturally born which then brings less influence of other nations ... why in the world that the voters for this most valuable job not have to be the same.. the same most wise and experience and no influence of other nations ?

Re: Alcohol AGE 21..Voting AgE 18 = HYPOCRITCAL also proves liberalism comes from un

OK but what about when 2 'human life experiences' disagree. Say, an old person thinks that (based on their life experience) you shouldn't be able to drink until you're 50 years old.

You can't go around making laws simply based on your life experiences because peoples life experiences are vastly different. You have to take other peoples views into account.

Life experience, if it is done above about the 50 IQ point bandwidth level, includes taking inventory of both yourself and those around you as best you can. The real problem here is that so many people are so clueless that they barely know how they feel about things, much less how anyone else feels. I can do better, much better in fact.

EDIT: There is a great piece on the AUG Psychology Today, Love Interruptus, that gets to how out of touch people often are with both themselves and others. We Zennists work on this a lot though, as indicated by my sig line.

Doesn't really answer my question though does it.

As for the bolded, that's according to...... you?

Ever heard of Dunning Kruger?

The voting age should be raised as well, to 25 or 30 years old.

If so the age to serve in the military should also be raised to match it, if by your reasoning they are not old enough to vote then they are not old enough to fight for this Nation and be maimed and killed for serving. I would also add that trying a person as an adult should also match, these nonsense of various ages for adulthood in this Nation is pure idiocy. At least Europeans go with One age for adulthood, most selected 16, varying ages mean some do not actually know what an adult is and want to have a sliding scale so that they can fit it to meet their agenda. Pure BS.

I dont remember there being a question, what I saw was lack of understanding of some people (me being one) who live differently than you do.

And no, never come across that name before.

You're the one suggesting that you know best about the various ages that different things are appropriate for people, yet you accuse me of not understanding that other people live differently from me? How rich.

EDIT: and I didn't include a question mark but there was a question. I'll restate: When the only reason you have for doing something that will affect other people is your own anecdotal life experience, how do you reconcile differences with other peoples life experiences?

I know my opinion. I also know that I am here to compare notes with others, being here is part of my education process. I talk to other people, I try to get a sense of what their reality is and I go from there. I will use gambling as an example...I have never done lotto, I did $200 in vegas....that is the extent of my experience. But I know the korean KP's at the Ft Lewis DFAC who tend to spend about 10 hours a week there having fun and socializing. I know the woman who lost $40k in a year at the local indian casino while her husband was in Iraq, and I know that he forgave her. I know my brother went 4 times to vegas, the first 3 were a blast, the 4th he was drunk and lost so much money that he refuses to ever go to Vegas again.....stuff like that. And I read a lot, I pay attention to the stuff and people that I come in contact with during this life. I look for patterns, I draw conclusions. THis is how self education goes. In the same Psychology Today there is another piece "The Golden Age of Autodidacts" that calls people like me "Intellectual Buccaneers". I like that.

Ok so the justification for your opinion on the ages people are responsible enough to be allowed to do certain stuff is just personal anecdotes. Got it.

I've seen MADD stats claiming that 100% of deaths were due to drunk driving. That's when they lost all credibility

Link?

It was a poster I saw 20 years ago, but I'll withdraw. None the less it did happen.
