"Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!"

"Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!" Trump said. "Are you the greatest? You know what I'm talking about, OK?"

Sounds like he just barely stopped himself from saying something else...

The TRUTH is that Donald Trump personally orchestrated this moment......and it will be weeks before someone spells it out for many (months for others) and they realize the pure genius of what he did.
He sets things up in levels most can't perceive.
Like him or hate him, the man is rather smart.

Re: "Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!"

Exactly!

Through greed & self-interest, the GOP politicos laid the foundation of Trump's takeover of their party! Whether it was the President lacking a birth cert, to him being a Kenyan, to ACA death panels, and a myriad of other offenses, they made this happen. There was no fictional nonsense too delusional for them not to support. No matter how false and incredible the item that was stated as fact, they *never* spoke-out against it or their Party! Right now, It's the PR version of the Hastert rule (and let's ponder that a bit!).

They conditioned a large subset of their voters to believe anything!

And Trump's got them believing it!

If the party were to slide-off into oblivion, I'd not shed a tear. As bad as Trump can be, I feel the GOP establishment is as bad if not worst - just in a different manner.

Good riddance (hopefully). If Trump were to get in, he will eventually be replaced. But the current incarnation of the GOP has been around for decades, and only seem to be getting worse.

Perhaps one day I'll share how I *really* feel about them!

Agreed.....because the Right is not longer "Right". It is the left in disguise.....and that simply is not right.

I disagree i think right wng americans are getting incredibly better, their progress as a group, should be recognized and applauded, think about the fact that only a few short years ago people were bombing churches that provided interracial marriages

My reply was an attempt at good natured humor - given his sentence containing the right, Right, Left, etc.

But no, I'm not a fan of much of the Right or Conservatism, though there are some ideas and values that are good and I do respect those that are principled in their conservatism (even in those times I disagree).

But I find virtually nothing of redeeming value in the GOP party establishment.

Re: "Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!"

Trump being an idiot is just proof of his genius!!!

[seriously, that's an argument being put forth] [God help us]

The TRUTH is that Donald Trump personally orchestrated this moment......and it will be weeks before someone spells it out for many (months for others) and they realize the pure genius of what he did.

Man, we saw that coming...

Look at my African-American over here? Is he for real? Is he a moron?

Would anyone have been offended if he'd said "Look at my African American friend over here"?
Or "Look at my main man over here"?
Or even - if was Denzel Washington or Chris Tucker - "Look at my niggah over here"?

It's funny and ironic, and perhaps intentionally self-deprecating (a long shot), in that it was really drawing attention to how few black people support him. But moronic or obviously offensive? By all accounts, including the one you posted, 'his' African American was not offended.

It's certainly interesting to see that this kind of manufactured outrage doesn't come exclusively from the R team, even if (judging by this forum) they do tend to dominate the field

This is what I figured he meant...."friend" or "supporter" but Trump may not have known for sure if he was either and so just said "my African American" which obviously sounds totally politically incorrect but how many people really believe Trump was pointing to the chattel slave he owns?

Trump says foolish things, I think even his supporters believe that. But I don't believe in most cases the intentions are nearly as bad as they're portrayed by others.

WTF?

The African-American man singled out by Donald Trump at a recent rally says he does not back the New York businessman.

"I am not a Trump supporter," Gregory Cheadle told NPR News. "I went to go hear Donald Trump because I have an open mind."

During a rally Friday in California, Trump was talking about a black supporter's actions at a previous event when he spotted Cheadle in the crowd.

"Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!" Trump said. "Are you the greatest? You know what I'm talking about, OK?"

Trump's 'African-American' says he isn't a supporter

Considering his history of being a democrat, and his history of presidential runs...I've always had a suspicion that Trump is some kind of patsy. Someone to make the Republicans look bad in order to get Democrats elected. In his last presidential "run" he portrayed himself as an independent that leaned towards the right side of the aisle. It was the same time that HRC ran for POTUS. He didn't last too long in that election but I think that he lasted long enough to put the kybosh on republicans that year. This year he's running as a full blown republican that says such outrageous stuff that at the least half of it is unbelievable. (being generous there) It's like he's going out of his way to offend practically every minority in this country. And frankly I don't think that Trump is actually that stupid. You don't get to be a billionaire in this world by being dumb and making offensive remarks every time you turn around.

So Trump is the Democrats fault. He's being a patsy and being used by the Dems? What we have again is Republicans taking no responsibility for the actions and words of one of their own. Trump is going to be the GOP nominee. The mess called Donald Trump is the GOP's doing and fault, no one else's.

Anyway maybe this thread should be moved to the conspiracy section?

Absolutely uncool to do that, just as uncool as pandering to African Americans, or any minority, for votes.
Both do it for votes, both stop at nothing. Hillary is just a bit more refined and rehearsed. Despicable.
So we have a rehearsed, pre determined answer and question Hillary. She does not answer, the regurgitates.
On the other hand, we have Donald, who starts answering a question, then veers from one topic to another to another to another, like some teen with attention deficit.

Go BERNIE. No chance in hell he will get the nomination, but one can hope and believe in miracles, right?

Who said "his" African American was offended?

Ooh, I love this game: Who said that anyone said his African American was offended?

Games aside, you're very well aware that plenty of people have said and suggested that it was offensive or racist or the like, as explicitly noted by your article from the OP and for that matter highlighted even in this thread:

It's just a bit of a steep climb to consider something offensive when the person involved obviously wasn't offended and so many comparable comments ("Look at my friend over here," "Look at my African American supporter over here") are obviously not offensive.

Manufactured outrage at its finest.

So in other words, nobody said the African American was offended. So you argued something that was never said.

I'm not a Republican so I have no need of taking responsibility of anything Donald Trump or Republican.

And I know, its IMPOSSIBLE to think that our politicians and elite class wouldn't try and rig a system in their favor...right? They're all sweet little angels that would never do whatever it took to get their own in power. Right?

You can say our politicians and the elite want to rig the system all you want.

Just be fair about it, if you are going to say something like that then at least put the blame on BOTH sides. Don't sit there and imply this is all some Dem plot and excuse the GOP for the mess called Donald Trump THEY helped create. Personally I don't see how the Dems can be blamed at all, but if someone wants to, ok, that's fine. But again don't let the GOP off the hook. Most of the Donald Trump revolution is because of the GOP's lying to their base for decades, mostly about wanting to stop illegal immigration, and their incompetence.

Considering what I said I thought that would be apparent. If it wasn't for GOP supporters that believe in Trump he would never have had a leg to stand on in the first place. Mostly low information voters that simply react instead of actually studying and looking at things for themselves. Indeed I'd have to say that the majority of voters on both sides of the aisle is exactly the same way. But that doesn't discount the possibility that politicians and our elite won't recognize that and try and take advantage of it because they have no morals.

Right on point. Just what is the answer...right now? I don't even have the words to describe how I feel about our most likely nominees. Hillary, as much as I despise her, at least has Bubba behind her to smack her in the head now and then. Trump, how can a clown, who can't complete a simple train of thought, lead this country?
How did we get in this mess? Is it our failure to vote for third party options that let the establishment on both sides be too powerful and power hungry?

I'm not going to keep going back and forth on this. True it doesn't discount the possibility politicians and elites would try and take advantage, BUT in THIS case, the rise of Mr. Trump, it absolutely doesn't point to the Dems. Something, IMO, that you tried to do.

Bold: Simple answer. YES.

Well, we're all allowed our opinion. :) This world would sure be boring as hell if we all held the same opinion. :)

No, the issue is that people get to choose, and people do not always make the best choice. I will happily explain to you how capable people are of making really bad choices right after I get back in from a smoke break.
