Well, first, this was one topic which I found difficult to place in the correct sub-forum. It's not really a gun control issue. And, it's not really just a matter of partisan politics, although close. So, if the mods want to move this, please feel free to do so.

Anyway...knowing how crazy this year's Republican Convention is likely to be, is this a good idea or not?

The convention will be held in Quicken Loans Arena, which currently bars guns from the premises.

The petition–which can be found at Change.Org–calls on Quicken Loans Arena to suspend “their policy preventing the open carry of firearms on the premises of the arena from July 18-21, 2016 to coincide with the Republican National Convention.” The petition also asks the NRA to join the fray by issuing “an immediate condemnation of the egregious affront to the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution constituted by the ‘gun-free zone’ loophole to the state law.”

The Convention is already must see TV...

So, I say let those boys bring all the guns they want and give us something really entertaining to see.

I am sure the Secret Service will be thrilled.

Coming soon, to a convention near you...

Hell yeah! Walk the walk!

Exactly.

Once upon a time, I sat down with the leadership of a certain club to plan a large camp-out on private land. Though the club itself wasn't political in nature, virtually the entire leadership professed to be vehemently Libertarian. One of the topics under discussion was rules about guns, with most preferring that only select individuals (ex-mil mostly) charged with camp security be allowed to carry on site.

They didn't appreciate it with I started laughing ironically. :D

A circular firing squad in the making.

What could possibly go wrong?

This is the third time this week I thought a real news story had to be a parody.

Hey, guns don't kill people. People kill people. We should ban people instead. Right?

What are the odds that most voters in the poll are not Republicans?

They want guns there so that they can kill anybody who doesn't give Trump their delegates. Honestly some people really think like this. Otherwise, they may just want to see Trump shoot someone himself. I don't know if he actually has a gun (I've never seen it.)

It does appear that the RW wet-dream of using the 2nd to defend the 1st may actually play out on live TV. I can't wait.

It would be quite interesting to hear what all our ahhhh ardent 2nd A supporters think of this idea. The standard line has always been an armed society is a polite one, or 'gun' prohibitions only punish law abiding citizens.

They claim to cherish the right to BEAR arms, Cruz claims a Democrat in the White House will spell the end of the 2nd A. I think this is a perfect opportunity for the 2nd A activists to speak up and support this petition.

If their talking points are indeed true- this will be one hellova polite convention.... :peace

To be honest, I'm quite sure the RNC Convention is on private property, and they can restrict the rights of others for the privilege to be on their property. I could just see a few Trump supporters if he gets robbed at the convention, an explosion of gunfire, a massive circular firing squad begins to form, and by the end the best candidate is left standing, who shall be deemed Jeff. This is how we will decide this election who our nominee will be.

My guess is that all of you who are waiting for a bloodbath would be sorely disappointed.

they are used to that after saying that the expiration of the Clinton Gun ban and the liberalizing of CCW carry licenses would both result in massive bloodshed.

Didn't happen but they keep hoping

He has one but it's small. And I wouldn't want to see him shoot himself with it.

What's the alternative, declare a 'gun-free' zone?

Like here in az. When cc was made legal for everyone (without a license ) we were supposed to be knee deep in blood.

Didn't happen. And, as usual all the screeching harpies are silent again.

Btw, I'm not into guns at all. Just an observation.

I will never understand why people fetishize their guns this much.
