Donald Trump: Anonymous Declares 'Total War' on His Campaign

The hacker group Anonymous has declared “total war” on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling his campaign “deeply disturbing.”
The group will revive its anti-Trump operation on a larger scale on April 1, aiming to dismantle his campaign after previously targeting him for his comments about Muslims, the Telegraph reported.

Government pretending to be "hackivist" group anonymous has declared "war" on Donald Trump. What do you think the outcome or impact of this will be on trump. the campaign etc?

Trump supporters will argue that Anonymous is a fascist group and/or morons and/or part of the establishment.

Who they have targeted:
- The Church of Scientology
- Government agencies of the US, Israel, Tunisia and others
- Child pornography sites
- Westboro Baptist Church
- Corporations including PayPal, MasterCard, Visa and Sony
- Isil
- Donald Trump

And your comment is a wonderful example of what's wrong with the Right in general and Trump supporters in particular: the tendency to ASSUME when you have zero evidence, zero hard basis for that assumption.

Actually, Anonymous might make things rather difficult for Trump. There is a better than small chance they will access and make public various things about him which could impact his campaign in a General Election setting against Hillary. I doubt this changes the primary all that much but it could be an on-going headache the campaign will have to deal with.

Not a trump supporter. I called out anonymous as an NSA/CIA front group years ago...

Here's a simple question.

Anonymous "hacked" thousands of ISIS twitter accounts. They got the passwords got into the accounts and did whatever to them.....

Let's pretend that anonymous was instead a russian hacking gang and the twitter accounts were of say average americans...

What would the news headline be? What would we be saying about twitters security?

Why haven't those questions been answered?

/facepalm

not a trump supporter.... see my reply to the other guy and ask yourself the same questions.

How so? Why? specifically?

What have they done in the past specifically that makes you think they can be of any success?

You want to know why the question hasn't been answered of what would happen if "Anonymous" was instead a "Russian Hacker Group" and "ISIS" was the "average american citizen?"

LOL, wut? Here's a simple answer.

They would be condemned by Americans.

No... see, you are missing the obvious.... a company, that has a ton of peoples personal information apparently is so easy to hack that a supposed vigilante organic hacker group can hack thousands of particular accounts and no one even asked what the **** is up with twitter's security..

See the proper response to that situation should have been "twitter, wtf is up with your security? is my info safe? how did they do this? how do you prevent your accounts from being hacked again"?

oddly, no one asked that question.

Lots of little criminals v one big criminal. Hopefully both sides lose.

I come up with this with over 20 years in IT security, and some common sense... This is my opinion and my points raise very specific questions that point out how much bs anonymous is... that said, this is about anonymous's "war" on trump. not really about what I think anonymous really is.

see post 10, ask yourself those questions if you want to look into the other.

Ah. So...since Anonymous hacked ISIS, they must be working for - or are a part of - the government? As if hackers would never be the kind of people who, if they had the skill and an internet connection, might do what they could to hurt a terrorist organization?

Think on this, guy - you despise ISIS, right? Almost all of us do - it's a part of the patriotism that must of us on DP share. And if those of us on DP who despise ISIS had the ability and opportunity to strike back at ISIS in such a way that they couldn't even identify us, much less retaliate against us or our families, would we do so? Of course we would! I've known a few minor-league hackers in my day, and dabbled in a little bit myself, in a very minor way. But if I had the skill to strike at ISIS to expose them and hurt them, would I? Of course I would!

That, sir, is why your great assumption is wrong...and why it's a very bad idea to make assumptions in the first place, because you're assuming that regular non-government-involved Americans have neither the skill nor the inclination to strike back at ISIS.

And your evidence is where?

ask yourself the questions I posed in #10

if you google it you get a lot of over the top crackpots with all sorts of complex conspiracy theories, I don't subscribe to those. What I do subscribe to is noting the oddities of a group who has really accomplished nothing other than hacking websites and twitter accounts, and no one saying boo to twitter about it's giant security hole.

We don't like what he says, there for crime.
Christ anon, when you went after government censorship, I had your back, now you're acting just like them.

So you got nothing. Gotcha. Carry on.

I don't know. I'm still waiting for them to bring down ISIS.

No, /facepalm

The fact that no one said **** about twitters supposedly really really ****ty account security would be the first clue.... if anonymous hackers can supposedly do this with such ease, why can't russian criminals? odd that one.

so, shutting down twitter accounts is waging war now on ISIS? it's even "hacking"? Twitter has an account lockout feature so after so many tries, it's locked, so brute force is out.... so how did they do it? and why would so much effort be wasted on twitter?

If they somehow got these PW's and accounts from client or server end, they would also have endpoint IP's, just having that alone, one could cause far more damage than shutting down twitter accounts, many of which were apparently fake.

So let me ask you, did anonymous guess 5,500 or so ISIS account passwords? or did they figure out endpoints to gain access to, and if the latter, why did they focus on twitter?

With the skill, twitter "hacking" would be below my league, I would have targeted traffic, endpoints, MiM, DDOS, even crypto style attacks on the endpoint users.

If it gets down to Trump/Hillary in the general campaign, there will be two campaigns with headaches to be dealt with.

How so? Why? specifically?

What have they done in the past specifically that makes you think they can be of any success?

I'll give you that Anonymous success is spotty at best, but they do have a skill set for putting out information. It could be just limited to SSN's, addresses, locations where he is at, etc. Or, they may break into something revealing more about his activities with Trump University, or Trump Casinos, or Trump Airlines, or more details on his failed Marriages, or a dozen other failures where information may exist that Anonymous can exploit.

Now it is doubtful that this means something to Trump supporters as they gather today, but it might mean something to those having no idea how they will vote in a General Election context against Hillary.

In the past Anonymous has had some success against Hal Turner, attacking and releasing information on the Church of Scientology, their "Operation DarkNet" did take down dozens of child exploitation websites and ultimately it lead to many arrests, they did put pressure on those involved in the Steubenville high school football rape case, and they caused North Korea a few headaches when they released all the obtained user names and passwords to various government installations.

You may consider all these things just annoyances and not really successes, but what they can accomplish can make things at least challenging for their targets. Even if it results in nothing more than a negative campaign, it would be the last thing Trump would need. Again, not because of his supporters but because of whom he is likely to face.

Why are you posting a silly conspiracy post here?

If it gets down to Trump/Hillary in the general campaign, there will be two campaigns with headaches to be dealt with.

I am not suggesting otherwise, but I am saying that for now Anonymous going after Trump is bound to cause the campaign a few headaches.

In other words, because you can't answer the questions you pose, the obvious answer must be, "It's the government!"

Right.
