Marco Rubio tells supporters to vote for Kasich in Ohio to stop Trump

Rubio sold his soul when he pushed for amnesty in the gang of eight. And his lame excuses for that on the campaign trail are just that, lame. He never had even the slightest chance of being POTUS.
No, you are confusing your own feelings for statistics. There are a number of ways this contest could have gone differently, and put Rubio up.

So, Rubio in finished in the 2016 presidential?

Believe what you wish. Mr. Amnesty performed poorly.

It's looking that way now at least. Predicting the outcome of an election this far in advance is a bit like predicting next month's weather though.

Most likely prediction: Party bosses pick Cruz, Trump runs as an independent, thus splitting the Republican vote, and Hillary becomes president. That may not be correct, may not be the way anyone on this forum would want next month's weather to be, but it's looking like the most likely outcome just now.

OH, and since March came in like a lion, it's likely to go out like a lamb. Wait and see.

Oh, he performed abysmally, he lowered our public debate, and he has encouraged the ugliest, worst, most hateful parts of us to ride to the fore. But Mr Amnesty, despite all that, is leading in delegate.

Rubio is leading in "delegate"? WTF?

No - the candidate who has consistently for years called for Amnesty, and attacked other Republicans for being too tough on illegal immigrants is. Mr Ambesty.

Marco Rubio was in the gang of 8, which drafted amnesty legislation. He is Mr. Amnesty. His lame excuse of "working to get the best deal he could within a liberal body" is just that, lame. If he were principled, he would never have done that. No amount of RINOs fawning over him will ever change that. ;)

...No. Rubio was willing to trade non-deportation and legal permanent status for securing the border. Then they turned against the latter, and so he turned against the legislation.

The guy who has been pushing for Amnesty, the guy who has been consistently on the left of the issue of immigration, the guy who told the DREAMERs that "You've convinced me" and who attacked (of all people) Mitt Romney for being too conservative and too harsh on illegals is Donald Trump.

Rubio is a jerk. Kasich isn't interested in playing that stupid game. Play to win or drop out.

Rubio would most likely have lost his Senate seat if he ran for reelection.

Nah, Rubio would have won the seat fairly handily- incumbency is a powerful advantange, especially matched to talent.

That being said, you have it precisely backwards. Rubio, assuming he drops out, is being a statesman. Kasich, who is a smug little prick, is the self-centered "jerk".

You were a passenger. Nuff said.

Amhib's treated you guys very well.

Meh, we had our issues back and forth. But every night I went to sleep. In a bed, no less. In a climate-controlled environment, for the vast majority of the time. Regular meals, running water, toilets, showers, gedunk stores, air conditioning, and no one got shot or blown up..... Even the dudes working for ya'll down in recycle, the galley, or wherever had it easier than any Marine deployment we'd been on.

Mind you, I"m glad we have a Navy. It plays a role nothing else can in providing a global security force. But seriously, if you want to toss the "back in the military I came from so-and-so woulda" tough-guy bit around to try to impress, understand this forum has quite a few vets, and you can play that against.... Air Force guys. Cause the Marines and Army folks are going to laugh at you.

Utter nonsense. Rubio, by his own admission, "the best we could do given the fact of who was running the Senate at the time,".

No, that's kinda sorta what you call "reality". Trump has been, and seems to continue to be the longest term advocate of amnesty on the stage.

It all has its up's and down's.

Kasich is within a few points of Trump in Ohio. Marco is about 10 points behind Trump in Fla. So, Kasich not talking about dropping out or sending his voters to Marco makes sense. His goal is, after all, to win Ohio. Rubio, OTOH, already knows that he is toast.

Now...question can be asked if Kasich is delusional. IMO, he has no real path to the nomination. Even if he wins Ohio on Tuesday, he has almost zero chance to beat Trump and Cruz. But, I am sure he does not see it that way.

Kasich is actually slightly ahead in Ohio, especially now that Rubio is signaling to his people to vote Kasich instead. Rubio is ahead in the early voting on Florida thus far, and we'll see if he can hold on.

He is either willing to screw over the party to get a VP slot, of truly is delusional enough to think he will win a contested convention.

Or he drops out. We will see.

From the way Kasich and his campaign have talked he seems delusional, I guess we will find out

That.

Or he's finishing a second term as governor, thinks he has to be VP, and is determined to hold on to the bitter end, no matter the cost.

I still dont see how running this long gives him any better shot to be VP, it certainly hurts his chances IMO

He is betting n having the delegates and home city advantage to make someone the nominee in return at a contested convention.
