Fox News Almost Hosted a Trump/Sanders Debate, But Trump Backed Out

The first Fox New Democratic town hall held Monday night had its origins as a planned debate between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, but the idea was scrapped after Trump pulled out of the debate.

The New York Times reports that Fox executives had the idea, which would have “made primary debate history” as the first face-off between Democratic and Republican presidential candidates before either party picked its nominee. The Sanders campaign agreed to the debate and the Trump campaign was “very intrigued” with the idea.

However, “before the debate could be announced, the Trump campaign pulled out, citing scheduling conflicts,

Any word on the delegate count?
On a rather hilarious side-note, I got into a Facebook debate (lawds) with a Hillaryite who began a campaign to compare Bernie Sanders Supporters to Trumpers. :doh

Why would Trump want to debate with Sanders at this point?

Sanders the omnipotent strikes again.

sanders and trump supporters are the mobile votes this election. if either sanders or trump loses their nomination, the other party wins by default.

if both sanders and trump lose their nomination, a trump/sanders or sanders/trump ticket takes all 50 states.

Hilarious nonsense.

Please show where he committed to any such debate to say he backed out of it.
What? You can't do that?
Figures.

Well, I "almost" married Brad Pitt before I backed out.

Seriously, I'm not sure I get this at all. It doesn't appear it ever got past an "idea" from the Fox execs, so I'm not sure what specifically Trump was pulling out from. And I'm also not sure why this would benefit either one of them right now. Why on Earth would Trump worry about Bernie and why on Earth would Bernie worry about Trump at this conjecture? They both need to focus on the other persons in their primary races.

Very interesting, but I doubt that Sanders would get a word in edgewise. Loudmouth Trump is great at never actually answering specific questions, loudly, bombastically and full of himself.
Now Hillary and the Donald, that would be on the same low class level.

It would have a great chance to see Bernie on the offensive. He pulls too many punches with Shillary, mostly because I think he understands his overall chances and doesn't want to sabotage her should she get the nomination. But with the Donald, the gloves would come off.

Hilarious nonsense.

What? You can't do that?
Figures.

You mean other than the New York Times story? Furthermore... why are you so pissed about it?

Why would Trump want to debate with Sanders at this point?

Why wouldn't he? It's a presidential election year.

Well for Bernie's sake it would raise his name recognition and cement his electability in a general. For Trump? Dunno. He already has name recognition and is on top in his primary. Probably why he didn't want to do it.

Hilarious nonsense.

Typical.

Again.
Please show where he committed to any such debate to say he backed out of it.
What? You can't do that?
Figures.

Apparently you deliberately ignored the point of that.
Nowhere does any report say that he had committed to it.
What the report did say is that the "Trump campaign was “very intrigued” with the idea", which is not in any way speaking to a commitment.
Do you really not understand the difference between being intrigued and a commitment?

Seems you have a problem with the writer of the NYT. Still don't understand why you are so pissed about something like this. No one said anything bad about your baby here.

1. Hilarious. That is not an indication of being pissed.
Do you really not know that?

2. Stop trying to make this personal.
I have no baby at issue here.

3. You provided a report which can not be proven to be true.
Your follow up reply contained no information to support the claim as you apparently thought it did.

Your instantaneous snarky condescension was the indicator of that.

2. Stop trying to make this personal.

Stop acting like you are so personally insulted about an innocuous news article. Let me put it in right-wing speak for you. You are being too PC.

3. You provided a report which can not be proven to be true.

I cited a news article from a pretty credible news agency (the NYT) about an attempt to organize a debate that fell through. That is all I did. Sorry I don't have the video of trump actually taking a **** but I'm pretty sure he has. This in no way smears Trump even though you are acting like it is some kind of attack on him and throwing a tantrum about it.

Why would Trump want to debate with Sanders at this point?

more tv and facetime with americans. gives him a chance to look strong against a popular liberal.

no one said he "committed" to it but it's still pulling back from an idea he was initially interested in. why does that bother you so much?

But it's the second place Democrat.

But it's the second place Democrat.

yeah but he'd probably draw better ratings than hill-dawg.

I mean, please note that I wasn't saying that that reason is definitely valid, it's just a possible reason about why a trump would want to participate in such an event.

no one said he "committed" to it but it's still pulling back from an idea he was initially interested in. why does that bother you so much?
Oh Gawd!
You would have to be committed to have backed out, not "pulling away".

Your instantaneous snarky condescension was the indicator of that.
What ever you are using to interpret motivation or emotion behinds one postings is seriously off if you believe the stuff you are typing.

I thought it was hilarious that you posted something with a title that wasn't even supported in the body of the article so I pointed out the inaccuracy.
That's not pissed by any means.

Stop acting like you are so personally insulted about an innocuous news article. Let me put it in right-wing speak for you. You are being too PC.
Like i said, your interpreter is off.
Accuracy matters whether you like it or not.

That is not a refutation of what was stated.
Secondly, as I already said, accuracy matters.

Man, he really is scared of that Megyn Kelly.

A rundown of what would have been-a debate with no specifics from Trump and everything is Wall Street and billionaires fault from Bernie. What fun!
