Perhaps, “former billionaire buddies” would be more accurate, given they are going to do their best to torpedo his Presidential campaign.
That aside, for decades, conservatives treated the super-rich as gods. Now, their one percenter gods are gathered with tech CEOs and GOP leaders on a private resort island to secretly form a strategy to destroy the chances of the new hero of the right wing (Donald Trump) to become President of the United States.
This development is not unexpected. In fact, it is surprising it’s taken the fat cats so long to team up to oppose Trump’s political insurgency.
This action of the super-rich and their Republican lapdogs brings up several questions. If the oligarchs and top Republicans are successful in ending Trump’s Presidential bid, and also accomplish installing their “yes man” as the GOP’s nominee, will the loyal conservative voter base return to the fold of the Republican establishment? Additionally, will the Trump fans abandon their recent opposition to the Washington status quo that’s served the GOP so well for the past four decades? Will conservatives permit a third party campaign by Trump to divide their votes, thus assuring a Clinton Presidency?
These questions create quite a conundrum for conservative voters, one that must also be weighing heavily on the minds of the fat cats that pay to maintain that status quo. At the same time, Republican leaders are obviously worrying about future campaign donations from the oligarchs should their scheme to interrupt Trump fail.
The right wing political road is about to get very, very bumpy. Who will be the first to crash?
At Secretive Meeting, Tech CEOs And Top Republicans Commiserate, Plot To Stop Trump
