Just curious as to how many others feel this way.

It's true, our 2 party system/monopoly is intellectually and morally bankrupt. Has been for a number of years. Though there are other parties, the electorate won't vote for them in any meaningful way.

I've voted for the LP candidate pretty much every election since the 80's, but if the Dems nominate Bernie, which I seriously doubt will happen, I'm voting for him.

If Hillary gets the nod, I'm voting LP again.

I think the whole system is **** and should be scrapped. It is a dinosaur system designed for an entirely different era.

I believe in direct democracy but with stronger state powers.

Having representatives was fine before phones and the internet...now it is absolutely archaic. But Washington won't change it because a LOT less people would have a LOT less power under direct democracy.

And I don't agree about the argument that the masses are too stupid for direct democracy. They are not too stupid (with obvious exceptions)...they are too ignorant. But direct democracy will force the masses to teach themselves better for they will feel more empowered - with more responsibility.

Sure, direct democracy would not be perfect and there would be a learning curve (Like developing a system that protects minorities).

But the present system is madness. It is virtually impossible to have the present style of government without MASSIVE corruption, IMO.
It MUST be changed...drastically.

I have been jaded towards both parties for the past 10-11 years. It seems like all the adults have left DC, and the kids are tearing up the joint. I am curious of other peoples thoughts on the issue.

Am I alone?

The Jpeg below explains my thoughts.

Democracy ensures that we shall be governed no better than we deserve. I share your disgust, but the blame lies with the people.

Only when doing so fanatically.

So ignore the Constitution when you feel like it, eh? No wonder the country is in such a mess.

I agree, but to keep things in perspective, one must realize that "the people" have been very much brainwashed and manipulated by the powers that be. Ignorance and superstition are encouraged, and so is mob behavior and irrational thinking.
