Prisons dont stop criminals either, but we keep building them. You know why? To put criminals in, ha ha ha.

Drugs will enter the US, but it will be a helluva lot more difficult. It will stop people though, and that's Job 1.

I see drones as the next delivery system, but... I'd expect The Wall will be hi-tech, with sensors for tunnels and low level radar to identify drones.

You would expect if we can come up with this on DP, somebody whose job it is to figure this out, would even have some few other tricks up their sleeves. We can only hope... and be vocal, work towards and vote correctly, of course.

Unfortunately drug cartels deal a lot more than just drugs. Take their drugs away and they'll fill the void with more gun and human trafficking.

Why would Mexican cartels want to try to smuggle guns into the US? That makes no sense.

Ending the war on drugs would help. At least a rational policy on pot would take some of the wind out of the sails of the cartels. Treating drug addiction as the medical problem it is would help, also, but of course that idea would be opposed by those who profit from our prison system.

Ideology isn't going to solve this problem. It will take some realistic and pragmatic thinking to do it, something that Washington is woefully short on.

When it comes to voting, I'd like Cruz, but will take Trump in a heart beat.

He's already done much. The focus on The Wall, border control, illegals... all due to Trump. Illustrating how to drag the media to the story... another, as well as not playing their game.

Those are all doable. Two of three are simply upholding the law. Eisenhower deported 6 million... we can do more faster. Only The Wall is something you have to build.

You're missing the point. Mexican cartels aren't going to fold because we legalize drugs. They're going to find other ways to make money and the U.S. is a lucrative market for them.

Controlling illegal immigration has been discussed since the 60's and was acted upon by Eisenhower. I was politically aware when he Reagan passed amnesty. It's obvious many in Congress... all the Socialists and many Republicans... are for some type of amnesty.

Trump is different. It was his first call upon entering the race. He's been forceful on this issue. It's one of his... for lack of a better term... pet issues. Unlike closing Gitmo, which is not in our interest, and lacks all manner of support... The Wall and border control has great support.

It could get done if Trump pushes it hard when he's in office. A speech on why it need be done a'la Reagan would do much... as the Representatives would have their asses on the line come election day.

Oh, totally agree, even though I question at times where he is coming from, core wise, and where he is going, he seems to somehow trip in my direction a lot, that cannot all be by accident. But, my god YES, so much better than the other side and what they put up, really what either party has put up in the last who knows how long. Its not a short, though it is also not a very deep, list... from either side.

Maybe Trump as lead singer and Cruz as VP playing the conservative base chords in the background, keeping Trump on fairly steady beat?

Yes, Trump just through force of personality can make something, those somethings the Media wants desperately not to be the stories, to be suddenly noticed, to become the news. Definitely applaud that ability, if used for right. So far so good.

You would have to station thousands upon thousands of Border Patrol Agents to protect the wall. And if you had that many agents you wouldnt need the ****ing wall.

I have been to the border in New Mexico many times. Hell I have illegally passed into Mexico and back without seeing anyone at all. If you just build a wall then the cartel would just knock it down at their leisure. Or they would just build tunnels.


The best thing to do is make it where entering illegally is just that illegal. Allow any law enforcement to arrest illegals, and create a deportation system force for law enforcement to call to come get them. And some special prisons to deal with the violent and repeat offenders to keep them separate from American prisoners. Make it where if you come here from anywhere illegally, you will be punished and barred for life from ever coming back. Second offence puts you in one of those prisons. And the people that were deported for illegal entry should be shipped to southern Mexico if they came from Mexico or to whatever country they came from. Northern Canada if it was Canada.

We dont need people who started out by breaking our immigration laws to be citizens. Most likely they do not follow laws well. And we dont need those types of people here. There is a legal way to become citizens or work here, that many people are to do. There is no excuse for those that side step that course and do it illegally.

Trump just learned the trick of beating the drum for a wall, thus pretending to have a solution to illegal immigration. Lots of politicians before him have done the same.

If anyone thinks illegal immigration will end if Trump actually (shudder, shudder!) becomes president, they in for a great disappointment.

Money, money, and more money. Because they can buy full auto ak 47's most of their guys don't need, sell them at massive markup in the us, and turn around and buy cheaper guns to arm their guys, while selling more guns.

Fyi gun stats from mexico are jacked up anyways, the atf only lists trackable guns, and the mexican govt only turns in guns they know came from the us. The actual number is unknown but many estimates believe more guns in mexico come from elsewhere rather the the us.
