3 out of 10 Britons are meat-reducers

this is good news though. eventually meat eating will be seen like dessert eating or smoking. something only done occasionally.

Not going to happen. More vegans quit than stay in that silly movement all the time.

what is your point in posting anything ever?

I don't agree with NQR all that much but he at least isn't a one dimensional poster who is fixated on some extremist ideology. So I fail to see the relevancy of your comment

Because a people who never quite got a handle on cuisine shouldn't limit their options.

Hey honey, let's go out for English food.......said no one ever.

extremist? now being healthy and ethical is "extremist" lol

cooked veggies have plenty of nutrients. Indians and many other cultures have been vegetarians for thousands of years. follow your own advice.

Cooked veggies LOSE nutrients when cooked. Many vegetarian cultures in S Asia have serious health issues like the the Irish with rickets- not found in diets with butter, fish oil, and milk.

Facts are funny, the vegetarian diet of S Asia is more due to a lack of funds to buy meat rather than a love of rice... As China has shown, if a person's income can rise past bare minimums- MEAT becomes a staple.

When I was in SE Asia and Korea I didn't see veggie only people- I saw and ate a good deal of meat- fish, chicken, pork and some meat I probably don't want to know about.

But once more try and answer my question rather than point to poor folks HAVING to live on a meatless diet-

We are a prey species- we have binocular eyes, canine teeth, mono-gastric stomachs.

The question is- WHY would a vegetarian have the above if he was meant to eat just vegetables???

and the rate of obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease is skyrocketing. thanks for making my point

I think that's more due to refined wheat and sugar consumption. Processed foods with all sorts of chemicals may be cheap but not very good for a person's health. I would also attribute a lack of exercise as another contributing factor for the obesity, diabetes, heart disease epidemic.
