Obama's Shameful Refusal to Attend Scalia's Funeral

how shameful
Obama did not even offer to help dig his grave

Could be any number of reasons. Perhaps he simply doesn't feel it's appropriate given he and Scalia's personal relationship. I dunno. As far as something like this is concerned, it's none of my business.

The the damn White House and that idiot Earnest should have a better justification / explanation already at hand, as if they didn't know the question was coming.
Because they didn't the whole bunch of them, including the president, look like the fools they are. I swear it's like the Keystone Cops are running the administration.

It's very clear what you've been saying in your thread.
Raising doubts about Justice Scalia's family wanting Obama at the funeral is the type of knee-jerk partisan hackery you normally rail against.
Parsing words about what is a service is very disappointing coming from you .

Kobie brought it up, not me, see below, or you can go back to the very first post after the OP to verify it. I doubt you would say he was a knee-jerk partisan hack, or would you?

Obama won't attend Antonin Scalia's funeral - POLITICO

I am curious as to the reasoning. It is entirely possible the family asked him not to attend.

You have consistently tried to shine the President in a negative light in this thread of yours .

In how he is representing the Office of the President of the United States of America, regarding this single action, you could say that. It isn't personal, it has to do with the office, not the man.

I would not be surprised if they asked him to stay away due to the suspicious circumstances of the death.

Jesus, not another conspiracy theory. You people need something to do.

Well, this might not go aver well with the sitting 8 Jurists.. Ginsberg included. Obama has some pretty important decisions coming up, and this is the kind of thing that pisses even the most ardent ideologues when one of their own is disrespected like this.

Tim-

Dream on.

Touching moment as Obama just paid his respects to Scalia as he lays in repose. Tip of the hat to him for putting ideology aside.

That's nice. "Many people" disagree with the fact that Obama draws breath every day. No matter what he does, he's going to piss someone off. He's the president.

The libruls were much much worse when Bush was president.

Tim-

Speaking of things not going over well with the 8 Justices as you have;
What won't go over well with Kennedy and Roberts is the GOP obstruction on sitting a replacement to Justice Scalia.
Since neither has been a slam-dunk for the GOP compared to Alito and Thomas as it is .

Your argument is a straw man. My discussions in this thread have been in regard to the Office of the President, and the Office of Supreme Court Justice. So, your straw man and detour regarding whatever it is your trying to obfuscate with is irrelevant to me and what I have been saying consistently.

So you could care less........

All I am asking you and your stawman is:

Are any of the GOP candidates attending?

You can make your own conclusions

Obama is a very small man.

yep he is. he has shown it time and time again throughout his presidency.
we know the disdain that he has for the SCOTUS in general.

yeah. I don't really care that Obama isn't attending the funeral. He went yesterday - that's good enough for me. It would have been good enough for me if he hadn't even done that. I don't expect much from Obama, and I'm rarely disappointed.

So you could care less........
Of course I could care less. Whether the President represents the office or not in a respectful manner is something I care about, therefore I could definitely care less. I believe you meant to ask me if I couldn't care less.

I understand your question, and your point, and did so the first time you ran it up the flagpole. It was irrelevant then, and it's irrelevant now, because as I told you before, none of them are the President.

In case you all missed it... This happened:

:scared::scared::scared:

Nice. Tip off the hat to Obama.

So then what was your point? The thread was about Obama's refusal to attend Scalia's funeral.

That he still paid his respects to him while Scalia was lying in repose in the Great Hall and the President not attending the funeral of a Supreme Court justice his not an unprecedented/uncommon move...

Of course he "paid his respects" to Scalia. How was he going to get away with that? It isn't the same thing as not attending his funeral, which I would expect any POTUS to do.

Why attend the funeral of someone who actively hates you. It would be very disrespectful.
