Just yesterday, Obama’s baseless assertion that America is not entering into a new Cold War with Russia was shown to be little more than aspiration when NATO officials blamed Russia for a recent rocket attack on a Ukrainian city and a Russian spy ring was broken up in Manhattan. According to an indictment, Evgeny Buryakov, one of three Russians charged with conspiracy and employee at a Russian bank in New York City, was not only seeking to recruit Americans to serve Moscow’s interests but was attempting to covertly subvert American markets.

The Washington Post noted that it is extraordinarily disturbing that Russia was seeking to use automated trading algorithms to disrupt the financial system. On several occasions in the past, the malfunction of these programs has caused cascading market failures and has cost those affected by these failures tens of millions of dollars in mere minutes.

It is tempting to engage in the philosophical debate over whether this apparent reprisal for Western economic sanctions was morally, if not legally, justified. And we can have a lively and nuanced theoretical discussion about whether or not covert actions like those allegedly embraced by Moscow, or overt sanctions regimes imposed on Russia by the United States and its Western allies, constitute acts of war. It is not any longer possible, however, to pretend as though the West and Moscow are not engaged in a contest with both nations’ fundamental interests at stake. If we refuse to call it a “Cold War,” then we need to invent a new term to describe this state of conflict between nations.....snip~

So what do you think about this issue that's been on the trend? Is BO and the O Team missing the warning signs put out by Putin? Is Putin engaging as if he thinks he is at war? How serious would this be.....say back in the 60s and 70s? Do you think BO and his Team can handle the increased pressure? How much more blatant does Putin have to be.....besides coming out and Declaring War on the US? What say ye, are we in a War with Russia and BO doesn't even know it?

President Barack Obama said Sunday that Washington would work with its European partners to "ratchet up the pressure on Russia" in response to the latest violence. EU foreign ministers will hold an extraordinary session on Thursday to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

Lavrov warned the West against using the events to "whip up anti-Russian hysteria," and Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed the threat of more sanctions as "destructive and short-sighted." ''Such threats and blackmail haven't succeeded in forcing Russia to change its continuous stance, and they never will," Peskov said.

The Russian currency tumbled by nearly 7 percent to about 68.5 rubles to the dollar on the news of Standard & Poor's decision to downgrade the nation's credit grade by one notch to junk status....snip~

Lets not forget that Putin designated NATO public enemy #1. Which he knows.....we are NATO.

There are reports that there are American boots on the ground in Ukraine. So I think that war is close. As soon as the Russians cross the Polish border that will be the last straw.

Looks like there isn't many that think Russia really adds up to much anymore. Although, setting up a spy ring and then one to mess with our markets might have been something to worry about. Back in the 60's and 70's. Still even with all Russia has been doing. Its pretty much ignored by BO and loyal supporters as Russia's usual, especially with the way they have been dealing with us.

Russia faces economic suffering. I love it. At some point the people will get rid of that moron, hopefully. I don't really care though, Russia doesn't strike me as the sort of nation that seeks war with the USA or Europe. We'll just keep at this back and forth thing in which for every time the US gets smacked Russia gets smacked twenty times harder.

There are english speaking mercs there. The problem is that Putin can and has read Obama like an open book. Obama is probably as inept here as he is with ISIS.

Spying is an act of war? If so, we have gone to war with nearly every country in the world.

We are in cold war 2, exacerbated by a weak and inept president.

Mornin' FMW. :2wave: No, tampering with US Markets. Wouldn't you say? Why do you think WAPO mentioned that part?

There is, I believe, a big difference between "Russia", and RUSSIANS.

It requires RUSSIANS to go to war with us and europe, and I think Vladdy will have a HARD time selling such an action to RUSSIANS.

Our federal government tampers with the markets all the time. That is also an act of war?

Heya Kevin? :2wave: Do you think Russians are blaming Putin for BO's economic war against them? Especially since they know BO has been giving money to the Syrian Rebels.

Do we do so to disrupt the markets so others can lose millions, while putting together a spy ring in their banking industry?

They certainly do. Remember russias twitter about Obama being a chump a while back?

They know, and so should you.

LOL The Russians are eating their words. They can't afford food. I'm sure their economy is booming with interest rates at 17.5 % and double digit inflation looming. They should not have messed with the President.

They have taken an economic hit, but its not like the great depression there-besides they haven't forgotten how it was living in the USSR.

C'mon, now. Let's not take everything so seriously. The spies broke the law and should be punished. It wasn't an act of war.

They have been trading with China without US dollars. Also set up two trade deals with Oil. China and Iran. Already are accepting and trading with other currencies. Set up trade deals with Brazil. Then an Arms deal with India. Where BO just stood and watched Russian tanks paraded in front of him.

Then while Nuke talks have been going on. Just sold the Iranians 6 Nuclear Reactors.

Then to poke some more at us. They sent a spy ship to Cuba while BO's delegation of Democrats ran down to talk to Castro.

Russia Sent A Spy Ship To Havana While US Diplomats Are Visiting

A Russian spy ship "bristling with antennas and satellite dishes" docked in Havana harbor just a day before a US delegation is set to travel to the country, CNN reported today.

But the spy ship could be Russia's blatant demonstration that the US's opening of ties won't weaken the island's relationship with Moscow, another government whose foreign and economic policies have often been at odds with those of the US and its allies. In November, Putin's visit to the G20 summit in Australia was accompanied by a four warships that remained in international waters on the edge of Australia's maritime claims. The ships may also have been used to gather intelligence.....snip~

Life would be so boring without a little intrigue to spice things up a bit, wouldn't it? :lamo:
