He was actually the first doctor to do so. Pretty inspirational.

Its not every day that a doctor has Obama actually listening to what he/she has to say.

Actually, Obama invited doctors from all over the country to a summit just to hear what they had to say......

A local doctor recently visited with President Obama to discuss the President’s plan for health care. Dr. Jim King of Prime Care Medical Center in Selmer visited the Oval Office along with 15 other doctors representing different organizations at the President’s Healthcare Summit late last year.

More than half of physicians say they’ll vote for Mitt Romney come November 6th compared to just 36 percent for Obama, according to a recent survey by medical staffing firm Jackson and Cokey. In fact, 15 percent of survey respondents said they’ll be switching to the Republican camp this election, with most citing the Affordable Care Act as the reason.
Doctors Call For Repeal Of Obamacare, Say They'll Vote For Romney: Survey

These groups represent hundreds of thousands of physicians across a wide range of medical sub-specialties...."

These are all the groups that supported government take over of medical schools so that salaries could be inflated by limiting the number of doctors.

Doctors don't walk around in lab coats. Those photos are nothing more than a PR stunt.

The responses in this thread really make me wonder if any of you actually watched that video.

He never once mentioned Obamacare. He mentioned healthcare and an idea he had that had nothing to do with obamacare, but no where in the video did he mention Obamacare.

What makes the responses in this thread so ironic when responding to the OP and the subsequent conversation since is that much of his speech was mainly about education. Yet no one here educated themselves on what this guy was actually saying.....

And? The organizations aren't the doctors. They are the organization as a whole. 99.5% of doctors in the AMA could hate Obamacare, and the AMA can still take an official stance of supporting the law. Think for a second. How do you think it would reflect on the AMA if they took a hard line stance against Obamacare after it already got passed? Do you think it would increase or decrease their power as a lobbying group?

You're right he never once mentioned it directly, but the his ideas of redirecting government funding towards healthcare savings accounts would effectively end Medicaid and the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare.

I doubt it would end Medicaid. Such a process would only really be effective for those that make money and can supplement that savings account. Once that savings account runs out then they will have to use something else. Medicaid would be the logical choice. Or something based on the ideal of Medicaid.

That was his idea, specifically to redirect the money that we put into programs like Medicaid as direct deposits into the savings accounts. I think it would definitely cut costs on a demand side basis, and help improve the system. But you're right, it remains to be seen how healthcare savings accounts could pay off a $400,000 chemotherapy cycle.

Perhaps Medicare would be rolled into it, by the government subsidizing the accounts for seniors as well and covering part of the costs for the really expensive treatments.

What did I miss, and you heard to come to that conclusion Wayno ? :peace

He was being sarcastic. It was in reference to the way many Obama supporters have tried to portray those that are against Obama policies as being racist.

Obviously anyone who criticizes this President is a racist....

Look at the thread title. Why does this guy's race matter?

It was the title of the article.

But, I think its also important to dispell the myth that minorites can't be conservatives.

That's BS myth anyway. If that was the title, then you tell me who thinks race is important.

The tile in the video describes him as "Famous 'gifted hands' surgeon." Not that he was black.

I do admire his courage to say it when the President is sitting just to his right.
