Poll: How many have read one, or both of Obama's books?

Of Obama's books, I have read:

    A) The Audacity of Hope
    B) Dreams From My Father
    C) Both
    D) One, or neither

In my experience with liberals over the last 5 years, very few of them have actually read Obama's books. Especially his first book, "Dreams From My Father". I am interested in knowing what liberals think about this book in particular, and what they actually know about the characters in the book.

Is there a liberal here who has read it? I find it fascinating that the people who are Obama's most ardent supporters, know the least about the man, his history, his upbringing, his family, his mentors, and ultimately, his politics.

Bottom line is, many people simply DONT KNOW anything about Obama.....but they support him nonetheless. Fascinating.

I'm curious as to why you define choice "D" as "One, or neither".

If a person has read only one, he would choose either "A" or "B", thus eliminating the need for a choice of "one". Also, you seem to want to group people who have read one of his books with people who have read none of his books. I see important distinctions between these two groups...enough that combining them together would give a totally distorted result.

Perhaps the word, "One" was a mistake? Perhaps it wasn't your intention to have that word there? If so, perhaps you could contact the mods and ask them to change it...if you can't do so yourself.

How about you, Masada? Are you going to answer your own question?

Personally, I read his first book and about half of the second (which was quite boring).
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

I was the first to answer. Thanks for checking that yourself BEFORE you asked.

What did you take from his first book? Let me be more precise. Do you think Dreams From My Father was a philisophical book in any way?

They are two different books. But have a common philosophy behind both. Im more interested in what a person came away from reading his books with.

Did you think Obama's first book was philosophical in the least? What philosophy do you think he was advocating?

Haven't read it. I hardly ever read nonfiction.
