idea I just fell in love with Joan Rivers

I just fell in love with Joan Rivers. I would have figured her for a typical Hollywood left wing pinhead. But I just accidentally caught about a minute of an interview with her on CNN, and she was asked about being in a high earning bracket and shouldn’t she pay more taxes, and she gave a fantastic response!! She said, NO! She said she started with nothing, and she works as hard as anyone on her staff, and there is no way she is going to pay more taxes to subsidies losers who sit around and have tons of kids on welfare! AMEN SISTER! She said she is happy to help a person who is working or trying to work, but no way is she interested in paying taxes to support these generational welfare families who keep having kids and live off of welfare one generation to the next!!

And that is good food for thought. How many irresponsible losers do we have to support with welfare, food stamps and now healthcare? I am not talking about the people who have gotten screwed out of a job and really need the help, I am talking about the lazy slugs who stay on welfare and keep having kids to get more welfare, and often can find the money for dope but need MY money to buy shoes!!!

Take away their kids AND their welfare and give benefits only to those who deserve them, PLUS clean out the corruption in these programs, and then us Republicans might consider raising some taxes. Until then, to Hell with tax increases.

That's great, but that's a very small part of the budget. You're not even talking about the military, which accounts for a much bigger percentage of the Federal budget. Think there's no corruption there? Of course there is. Then there's Medicare and Social Security. Those three things account for about half of the Federal budget and unless you touch them, you'll never get anywhere close to balancing the budget.

Show me a Republican congressman who wants to touch the defense budget. Besides Ron Paul, there's like 2 or 3. You might get 10 if it's a compromise to get some weird right wing social engineering thing. Until I see that, I don't take the Republicans "budget discipline" seriously. They're already trying to weasel out of the automatic defense cuts.

gated communities will be very interesting places if your wish to cut off social safety nets is ever granted. then you'll see what your tax dollars were purchasing. it would be a poor way to learn that lesson, however.

Does the Catholic Church stop helping families after one generation?

Sure, people abuse the system. I can understand people not liking that. I think it's better than them mugging you for your shoes though.

Traumatically taking kids away from their parents will surely solve this social ill.

    BTW, who is raising taxes?

And putting them in "the system" is going to teach them how to not depend on "the system"?

She shouldn't be taxed higher. We tax rich citizens. Joan Rivers' ratio of plastic/silicon to human flesh is about 1:2. Therefore, she is less of a person and thus is taxed less

In all seriousness I completely agree with her on this.

The amount of welfare we spend on the poor is a fraction of what we spend on the old. It's amazing how folks keep on whining about having to support the parasites when TANF and SNAP spending is minuscule compared to what we spend on Medicare and Social Security.
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

LOL - tax money would go all to welfare for the poor, eh? LOL Heavens - people who don't know WHERE it all go really disturb me. I know where it goes = so I oppose raising taxes COMPLETELY on anyone.

She probably thinks that about MOST people, though; lazy and popping out babies - a lot of rich snobs think they're superior and everyone else - even just the average middle class Suzie Q - just scummy in comparison no matter how self-sufficient . . . without the mansion, hired help, yacht and world-wide fame and all.

You know; work in an office as a secretary like my Mom for a Middle-Class lifestyle; so *beneath* them.
