"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"
Cicero Marcus Tullius

The only people less intelligent than Congress are the voters who keep reelecting the incumbents despite their single digit approval rating and their seeming inability to do anything to solve any of the problems that the government faces.
It's time to throw the rascals out. Sure, we'll send a few good ones home, too, but surely to goodness we can do better on average than what we have now.

Re: Is Congress getting dumber?
Me hardly don't likes no grammar fags neither. It is more gooder to speak all the entire words that first and foremost most quickest pops into your head. Dumb peoples outnumbers smart peoples, so that's the reason why because you'll get a more bigger support if your oral words is spoken at the most lowest level.

It's sad that we're wasting our time with studies like this when people are losing their jobs, barely getting by in life and we have an economy that sucks as hard as my shop-vac. We really do have screwed up priorities and it's sad that we judge a person based on how "effective" a communicator they are - instead of the heart of the person. I'd rather support a individual based on his values, morals and principle than how well or how intelligently he speaks. The whole package would be nice, but lets face it, that's not a reality.
If politicians are speaking at a 7th grade level, why don't we vote in some middle-schoolers into office?!?!

Dear idiots:
Speaking at a higher grade level isn't speaking better. In fact, it probably means you're speaking in a confusing, longwinded, or overly complicated way.
edit: And by idiots, I mean everyone that isn't me, of course.
