Meh, those state's have some the lowest Cost of Livings in the US as well. So its all relative.

TLC Family "Top 5 U.S. States with the Lowest Cost of Living"

Someone making $40k in Mississippi pretty damn close to someone making $50-60k in Massachusetts.

These states are largely rural, which is a better indicator of poverty than "redness".

And is not rural America more red then blue generally

I do not know that North Carolina can be considered a red state. One US senator is Democrat and one is Republican and our governor is a Democrat.

correlation does not necessarily ≠ causation...New Orleans is an overwhelmingly poor city, yet is decidedly blue. So I don't think that redness correlates to poverty.

All but two of them are "right to work" states. I don't know how much (if any) relevance this has, I just thought I'd point it out.

Minimal at best considering the levels of private sector unionization. A good example is Boeing. Starting salary at their new non-union SC plant, whenever they actually get it running, will be $14/hr. Starting salary in the unionized Washington plant, $15/hr. Same benefits package, same safety regulations.

Re: The 10 Poorest States Are "red" States

The same mistakes some conservatives make when they do this kind of stupid crap. First and most obviously, can you show that the reason they are poor is because they are red states? If not, then what is your point?

Re: The 10 Poorest States Are "red" States

They are poor because they're "red"?

    They're "red" because they're poor?

    All poor people are "red"?

    All "red" people are poor?

    What IS your point?
