Rochester Police Arrest Woman in Her Front Lawn For Filming Traffic Stop

People who have read my posts know I support authorities and the police. I have a number of friends that are police officers as well as elected County Sheriffs with whom I am on a first name basis, but his is ridiculous and clearly an overzealous Cop who might need to be drug tested because they can bring on paranoia, and he seems to qualify.

Clear overstep. Oversight of the police is essential to our continued freedoms -- it's why police reports are public record. This is wrong ...

... but I can't say I'm surprised. Our justice system has some real failings that don't seem to get much attention.

Blame the legislatures that are passing laws against it. The police are only enforcing the laws we've told them to.

This is not an isolated incident. He was not just on drugs or overzealous. He has the full support of his corrupt brothers.

Petty Thuggishness in Rochester | The Agitator

The video below is from a Rochester, New York, neighborhood meeting in support of Emily Good, the woman arrested for videotaping a traffic stop from her front yard. So Rochester police sent four squad cars to ticket the cars of meeting attendees who parked more than 12 inches from the curb. Yes, they even brought a ruler.

    That’s some staggering vindictiveness, officers.

By the way, due to a $50 million budget shortfall, the city of Rochester is considering cutting 27 full-time police positions. If the the cops in Rochester have time to carry out petty grudges against citizens who dare to show support for a woman who was illegally arrested, maybe the city ought to consider cutting 40 or 50 positions instead. They could start with the cops in this video.

Public servants, operating in public, should not be protected from being filmed doing their job. Especially if it will keep them more honest.

I oppose these kinds of laws, against people filming cops doing their job. If they can film us.... we can film them.

Completely unacceptable behavior by the police officers who arrested the woman, and by the police officers engaged in the retaliation ticketing outside the woman's house when a meeting was being held about the incident.

There have been many such stories recently. It seems when fought they are dismissed. At some point this has to reach the higher courts at which point it will be stopped.

It cannot happen soon enough. Goshin hit one out of the park. This has more to do with keeping power honest. Yes it's a pain in the ass for the police and yes this will cause fraudulent cases where the city or police force will be sued - but that's the way it is in a free society. The police do not have this power and if the legislature gave them this power, it was not the legislatures to give. It's as clear of an abuse of power that there is...
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago.
