Arguments on Gun Control

and there are lots that have. who you know doesnt matter, national averages do.

Its less than one in a hundred. certainly not enough to justify hassling 99% of all those who own guns legally just to pretend you can stop the 1 who engages in criminal behavior

NYC requires all gun owners to be licensed and register their guns. Handgun owners have even more restrictions.

The result? NYC has a murder-rate WELL below many other cities in the USA.

Per capita, we are one of the safest places in America.

clearly, our strong gun restrictions AND smart/efficient/strong Police department, has paid off.

so tell us why did DC-with a complete gun ban-have one of the highest murder rates? Your silly and unfounded braying that NYC's idiotic gun laws made you safe is not provable

OK...
Nationally, what % of guns are used to commot murder?

far less than the percentage of sexually active gay men who transmit HIV I suspect

So someone else recklessly uses a gun, and I should be restricted from using one....why? Should we also remove the personally owned vehicle because people recklessly drive?

IN reality their rants about criminals is a facade serving as a pretext for what really motivates them

that is to disarm honest people

...pretty paranoid statement my friend, considering no one here is suggesting that.

if there were no gun crimes, there would be no need for gun regulations.

and every criminal started out as an innocent, law-abiding citizen.

I support the right of all Americans to own a shotgun or rifle, as long as they are mentally fit to do so.

Hell, I'd even be willing to loosen restrictions on shotgun and rifle ownership, if it meant stronger rules for handguns.

Handguns? Only is the most extreme circumstances or personal security.

How about these national averages Woody:

In 1998, of the just over 15 firearms related deaths per 100,000 in the US, 7 were homicides and 7 were suicides. Would you feel better if they had committed suicide by some other method?

In 2004, 10.2 per 100,00 deaths in the US were firearm-related.

Here's another "national average." Notice the total firearm-related death rate decreased in the US from 1998 to 2004.

List of countries by firearm-related death rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The number of states allowing concealed carry has increased and the number of firearm related deaths have decreased? How about that "national average."

You're right, people make choices. Before guns people killed with other weapons.

Are you implying guns create criminals? That's absurd...

Do cars create criminals? Do knives create criminals? Do swords create criminals?
Does poison create criminals?

well people who feel as you do keep losing the battle in the court of law and public opinion. If you are afraid to own a pistol then don't. But I won't have someone who is clueless about guns and their use telling me I shouldn't own one merely because they are unable to properly use and own one

I took an NRA firearms safety course, before my riflery class, in college...thank you very much.
