As a marijuana user, I find your comparison with fat people offensive

It doesn't matter what you call those fat kids if they are physically healthy.

Aside from the increased risk of diabetes and extra pressure applied to the knee and lumbar joints, the main health risks of being obese come from poor cardiovascular conditioning.

It's possible to be considerably overweight and still have a strong cardiovascular system. It's just very uncommon, since most obesity is the result of combining overeating and poor diet with a lack of physical activity.

It's my understanding obesity increases one's risk of several of the most common types of cancer as well?
Breast cancer, colon cancer? Some gynecological cancers?

Portions are and continue to be a huge problem here. It's not even that people are eating crap so much as they're eating outrageously large quantities of crap in one sitting.

Re: UK Bans Use of "Obese" To Describe Overweight Children

The other issue here, is that they are using BMI charts which is a horribly inaccurate model to use to measure the overall condition a person is in. Its a quick and convienent model to use, but very innaccurate. It may be a little better for use with children, since they don't usually have a tremendous amount of muscle weight that can throw the charts off, but it still is not an accurate predictor.
