The word honky as a racial epitath came into use sometime around the turn of the century in Chicago most likely. Following the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, there was a rapid influx of Eastern European immigrants, mainly the Polish, Hungarian, and Slovak, in what has been termed the Za Chlebem or "For Bread". Eastern European immigrants came seeking to capitalize on the rebuilding efforts and to escape the Russificationof Polish lands were a monumental force in helping Chicago expand into the great city it is today.

Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian share a homonym in the two words bohac, which is a nickname for a rich man and "bohoc" which means fool or stupid. A third Hungarian word entered the equation when bohunk, a disparaging term for a laborer, entered common slang to refer to the new Bohemian laborers in the meat packing district which was mostly mixed black and Polish/Hungarian immigrants. African Americans adopted a mixed version of all three words to describe "white" and added the "y" to the end much like the term "whitey" to describe all caucasians, whom they didn't differentiate.

okay, it's like living in bizaro world. My take on being racist is that you are pro YOUR race and anti OTHER races. So how the hell can you be at one time PRO something that you are ANTI. The movement upward is equalized by the movement downward to create a statis, a mootness, a wtf.

So if I say YOUR INFERIOR to another race ... racist.

But if I look in the miror and say YOUR INFERIOR, that's just self-reflection. It's not racism it's self loathing.

There is a difference between racist and a failed attempt at humour.

Or is England trying to say any word that typifies a race used in jest or anger is racist not based upon the originators make up but based on the reality of the statement.

if that seems to be the case then this is seriously a LETTER OF THE LAW ruling rather than the SPIRIT OF THE LAW ruling, because the spirit of the law is to prevent minorities from burning s---t down when they get offended, like MLK assasination, or rodney king verdict.

The spirit of the law is to not start the racial spark of violence. In this kids case there wasn't a threaten of inciting racial violence, only hurting some fat cops feelings. And there's no legal protection from bad manners ... yet.

Otherwise, if bad manners become felonious ...

Beware, your next burp may be a felony.
