No. A lie can also be told in innocence. And once you realize you told a lie the right thing to do would be to say "Hey, based on the information I had I told you this. But it was wrong."
I think an innocent lie is more acceptable.
A lie is not required to be intentional.

No, a lie is intentional. If you say something which you thought was true and it turns out you were mistaken, then that's a . . . mistake.

I understand it helps your philosophical construct to be able to call a mistake a "lie," but as Lincoln supposedly said, how many legs does a fox have if you call tail a leg? Four, because calling the tail a leg doesn't MAKE it a leg.

So, you can call black "white," you can call up "down" -- doesn't matter. They still are what they are.

If its not the truth. Innocent or not.

Either change one of its definitions of it or I am right according to our English language.
