We can't.

We'd have to have filters installed into our brains that checked the "offend factor" of everything we say and do. It would be software that had daily updates, kinda like our current antivirus. No doubt it would be developed and marketed by Microsucks to further their attempt to take over the world.

I think this news item was better for the book than any award could have been. It really makes me want to read it.

I think the whole thing was probably set up by the publishers to get publicity. People can't actually be that stupid in real life.

okay, but I didn't see anybody being the "PC police" in that article. The judges who gives the award did so by thier own accord. They didn't say you couldn't say certain things, or make certain statements, that may offend someone. There was absolutely no cencorship at all, at least not in that article.

What happened was that they didn't award the book. I don't really think the judges could be called the "PC police." I mean, it's one thing to restrict someone's freedom of speech, but it's another when people don't agree with what you said. In this instance, the panel of judges, just thought the book might be offensive, and not give the publishers the award. The judges didn't say the publishers cant make those statements, or it cant say those things, or it cant portray blah blah blah.

I don't see any "PC police" at work here at all, if anything this is just some reporter trying to find something, anything to report about.

Seconded. I seriously believe the article was a joke. It's written like something from The Onion.

1) Cowboy Builders offends builders? How?
2) Is the book saying buildings of builders get blown down? No. What does that have to do with anything?
3) Pigs are offensive to Muslims as a food, correct? Not as characters in a book? I've never heard of Muslims opposed to Piglet in Winnie-the-Pooh.

From what I know, the Muslims never complained about the story being offensive, just as blacks have never complained about the word 'Blackboard' being offensive - idiots with too much time on their hands like to dream up all this crap, and end up banning simple words and phrases just because they THINK someone MIGHT be offended.
