Yeah, I guess so, but that's out of respect for the living.
To refrain from causing the bereaved additional pain by pointing out that the deceased was actually kind of an arsehole.

Then there's the principle of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all".
There's no real point in reminiscing about the negative qualities of a deceased person.
He's beyond changing now, but at least he'll never be around to bother with you again.
So you can sort of think to yourself, "Gosh, life's much better now that he's not around to screw things up anymore", but there's no real point in, you know, rehashing every negative characteristic he displayed during life.
Better just to carry on with your business and forget all about him.
