Cooking with BEER

Anyone cook with beer?

Brats come to mind real fast, but what else?

Beer bread comes to mind too.

Even if it's just the marinating part.

Tell me about your beer, I mean your cooking with beer.

My baby back ribs recipe has a braising phase which involves beer, usually guiness (amongst other ingredients)

I usually do beer can chicken in the oven.

Instead of cornbread with beans I sometimes make beer bread with my beans.

I use this recipe for honey beer bread,

This will need a really sharp bread knife or an electric knife.
Honey Beer Bread Recipe | Gimme Some Oven
Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup honey*
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
4 tablespoons (half stick) butter, melted

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 x 5 x 3-inch bread pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt until combined. Slowly pour the beer and honey into the flour mixture, and stir until combined. (I recommend popping your honey in the microwave for a few seconds beforehand to make it easier to stir in!) I recommend adding 1/4 cup of honey to the butter. It will give the crust of the bread a nice sweet crunchy crust. The first couple of times I did this recipe I accidentally added the honey to the butter and that is how I stumbled across the idea of adding honey to the butter

Pour half of the melted butter into the bottom of the loaf pan, and spread it around evenly. Then add the batter to the pan in an even layer, and brush the rest of the butter around evenly on top of the batter.

Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until the top of the bread is golden brown and a toothpick or knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Serve immediately.

*My original recipe called for 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons honey, which still works! I just prefer going with 100% honey nowadays.

If you like pinto beans you can try making Frijoles Borrachos(drunken breans).

There's also my wife's easy beer bread recipe:
1 12 oz. bottle of beer (using the fruit based beers or the like can add some nice flavor)
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar

Stir just until combined - 12-15 stirs is just about right (don't over-mix or it will be tough)

1 hour in a 350 oven. Brush the top with melted butter when you take it out.

Ok I made this yesterday.
Kinda screwed up I spilt the sugar and think I put more than 1 cup. It was overly sweet in any case.
Also needed more than 1 hour to cook. The middle wasnt quite done.
Would I make it again?
Hell yeah Only Ill use less sugar and bake longer.

P.s. used an apricot beer

Check your oven temp. I'v never had any issue with baking time.

Apricot Lager is one of my favorite beers to use in this recipe.
