The times are most certain,y changing.

Financial Post writer says a world without meat is no longer impossible.

A recent analysis published on the front page of Canadian-based news outlet National Post examined the imminent downfall of animal agriculture. Writer Claire Brownell centers the discussion around companies that are creating viable alternatives to animal farming including Bill Gates-backed Impossible Foods, Memphis Meats, Mosa Meat, SuperMeat, and Perfect Day. “Demographic forces are putting the livestock industry and those who depend on it in a precarious position,” Brownell says. “Raising a cow is a very inefficient way to make food.” Brownell presents a host of factors—including steadily decreasing per capita meat consumption, innovations in cultured meat technology, and awareness of the environmental destruction caused by the animal agriculture industry—that indicate that the climate for the replacement of animal meat with animal-free alternatives is ripe. “The companies that are able to adapt to these changing regulatory environments and changing consumer tastes will be the ones who started experimenting early,”

Man has been eating meat since the dawn of time and will continue to do so until the human race is extinct.

So test tube meat and meat cubes. Great.....

Current trends are not putting us on a zero intercept. If anything, they'll just make some grotesque meat engineering thing to grow boneless, indoor pig cubes.

On what planet is the Financial Post Canadas top newspaper?
And where in the article did it claim the end of meat being near?
All I read is that in someone's opinion it is not impossible that meat can be replaced. That is a far cry from the thread title

Nah the whole country shuts down and we hibernate in our igloos.

There is no change coming.

Meat. It's what's for dinner. Period.

that's not what trends and statistics show.

pretty soon people will be eating lab grown meat in their big macs. since they never cared where the meat came from in the first place they'll keep shoveling that stuff down their greedy maws

The benefit of a free society.

Get over it.

I will bet that there are greedy vegans.

Speaking for Americans we continue to eat fast food at a heart attack pace. Triple cheeseburgers with cheese and bacon, pizza are the number one comfort food and 99% of them taste like crap. Sodium I everywhere. Granted, the all natural movement is gaining ground but it has a long way to go. Visit the candy isle and cereal isles in stores. Stores that never sold wine and beer now sell wine and beer. All nations that battle the drug addiction problems stand little chance of developing in to countries that eat sensibly. I you want a birds eye view of how the meat industry operates today you must watch Food Inc., it will knock your socks off.
