Cure For Snackers Who Love Chips But Not The Calories/Fat

I snack on croutons now, much lower numbers on all the bad stuff and nice crunch and flavors. Try them, you will like them.

I agree that croutons are a excellent chips-substitute snack. I'll have to check
the ingredient infoboxes myself, though- the degree of innumeracy is so awful
on this board that I don't trust any data for which a citation link is not provided.
 
My Father loves the crunch.
There is no substitute for him as he enjoys all things crunchy.
Chips, Crackers, Croutons, and Snyder's Of Hanover Pretzel Pieces.
 
Kale chips and roasted chickpeas are good alternatives as well.
 
Baked tortilla chips and homemade salsa is good.
 
Can't evangelize more for PopChips

For an average serving you're looking between 100-120 calories. About 3 grams of fat. Only 15 grams of Carbs (which, for chips, isn't horrible). They have a ton of flavors. My personal favorites would likely be BBQ, Sour Cream and Cheddar, and Sour Cream and Onion. I also enjoy their normal seat salt and their sweet potato. They have some Tortilla dorito's knock offs that aren't horrible, but don't enjoy the taste as much. They also started coming out with some "ridges" style that I prefer even to the traditional ones, as they've got an even more satisfying crunch to them.

Ultimately, all this kind of snacking stuff isn't really "good", but I also recognize I'm not going to STOP snacking...so I enjoy these as the occasional munchy. They're not quite as bad nutrition wise as some chips, but I find them just as tasty (and more tasty than many of the "baked" varieties)

Yeah, I think you miss the point of my OP. Read the labels on your tortilla chips.

I've been eating them, too. I think one thing going for them is that they aren't designed to dissipate, flavor wise. Chips are treated with flavors that fade quickly, encouraging you to eat another to taste it again. It's a scientifically researched method of toying with the brain to encourage the consumption of more product.

It's just as deceptive and ****ty of a practice as altering the content of cigarettes to make them even more addictive.

Croutons are designed to be bite sized and good tasting. Nothing more, nothing less.

I didnt say you buy tortilla chips, I said you bake them yourself. Croutons are still bad for you btw. ;)

I don't think you are scrutinizing the labels very closely. Check the serving size. ;)
