Did you know romaine lettuce is 17% protein? One of the questions sceptics always ask about plant based nutrition is where do you get your protein, well the good news is romaine is also a complete protein with all 8 essential amino acids.
Romaine is also a great source of calcium, iron, B-vitamins, omega-3s and contains more vitamin C than an orange! This leafy green is a much overlooked superfood and hence I decided it was time to dedicate a juice recipe to one of natures finest.
Juicing: Romaine Goddess Green Juice Recipe
Juicy Ingredients
10 romaine leaves
2 apples
1/3 cucumber
2 sticks of celery
1/2 lime (peel the lime if you want the juice less zesty)
1 thumb sized chunk of ginger (or a bit more if you are feeling brave!)
How to Make It
Wash / clean all the produce
Juice the romaine leaves
Juice the cucumber
Juice the lime
Juice the celery
Juice the ginger
Juice the apples

Why blend that? Just put it together into a salad. And add radishes. Jucing takes out the fiber.

It's probably my favorite lettuce!

Great texture, too.

Wouldn't it be much better to blend instead of juice these items though? a lot of the nutrients are in the skins.

And I do like romaine but errr juicing the romaine goddess makes one double take a moment.

Romaine doesn't have more vitamin c than an orange one orange is approx. 116% of rda the equivalent amount of romaine is approx. 9% of rda.
It also has no b vitamins at all. It does have Vit A, potassium and some omega 3 and 6 and small amounts of some of the other things you mentioned like calcium and iron.
I just prefer romaine mostly for its texture. I'm not a big fan of kale and iceberg lettuce is .. well talk about empty that stuff has practically nothing nutritionally and it browns very fast.

I like raddichio also, not much in it nutritionally its just a flavor/texture thing. your nutrition is going to come from all the other stuff you mentioned.
if your doing a juice then apple certainly is a must. I like the addition of ginger. I never would have thought of that.

If I may make an alteration.

A suggestion if you will.

I mean that all sounds great, but with the addition of one 12oz ribeye... Would go from being great to being legendary.

the short answer is

it's not a blend it's a juice and juicing as opposed to eating allows for the removal of fiber and the ingestion of many more nutrients that the body does not have to work to digest

i'd probably prefer a good salad. however, i might try one of the juice things eventually just to see what it's like. still, it always reminds me of

i kid, lol. i don't doubt that there might be some genuine health benefits.

Since we have the juice weasel vid.. lol.. maybe I should make a thread for it but was wondering what peoples preferred appliance was .. for juicing or blending I guess.

I have a Huron slow juicer. i have an old juiceman juicer too. it works great for celery

Well that's the way to do it. real comparisons. I'm one who would tend to want to blend up the whole fruit or vegetable usually ( I'm one of those people who likes lots of pulp in their orange juice, the more the better. )
actually in talking about that I'm really wanting a nice cool glass of orange juice right now :doh

wait til you try fresh pineapple orange carrot.
