Just ordered an all natural maple syrup called "Trees Knees Spicy Syrup" because it is infused with a mix of chili peppers. I got this out of an issue of Vegetarian Times magazine. I can't wait for it to arrive. I like to try all things and this sounds like something a group of college kids put together during a drug party. If you are interested the website is mixedmade.com. I'll follow up after it try it.

I'm surprised it hasn't been done already!

In fact, I bet it has!

I grew-up near my city's main Chinatown, ate spicy Asian food all my life, and even married an Asian wife. It's not uncommon to eat spicy food for breakfast in Asian cultures (ex: dim sum). In Mexican & South American cultures too, obviously.

It might be pretty good. I'd surely give it a try, along with the Trappy's I always put on my bacon, corned-beef hash, and breakfast ham!

BINGO! I was just going to say this would work great on Asian food.

You might want to try basting a leg of ham with it or the honey on the next page of the link.

My brother and I loved doing heavily spicy food for breakfast, when the hangover's webs had to be cleared away.

I understand where you are coming from. as you have an Asian wife I have an asian girlfriend and her family might eat spicy for breakfast. breakfast isn't significantly different so much than other meals.
Still though mixing syrup and chili peppers yuck.

She is a great girl and it will happen. she was previously married though and they married in Philippines (she is from there) and because of the heavy catholic influence they don't have divorce there they have annulments and its a long process through their courts.
If not for that we would prob already be married.

The capsascin in the peppers would add to the nutritional properties of the maple syrup....it doesnt sound that different than raspberry/chipotle or cherry/habenero combinations...which are also excellent.

I'm familiar with this Philippines issue, and there's a very easy & inexpensive solution to this.

You can P.M. if you're interested.

Chili pepper syrup is classic. Actually, if you look at how a lot of chefs cook high brow desert dishes, they always add a pinch of chili flakes to it. My cousin who did culinary science was making creme brulee at our thanksgiving one year, and when I saw her add chilis to the cream I did a double take. It makes all the other flavors richer and more impacting. It seems weird to think about at first but since I started using tiny pinches of dried chili in desert things, I won't ever go back!

It came and it is a disappointment, not much flavor and surely not much chili pepper. live and learn.

i would try that.
