What time of day are you having these huge meals? If you're eating your big, main meal in the evening then this sick feeling is to be expected. There's a reason why a lot of Mediterranean cultures eat their main meal in the early afternoon. You can then take a siesta, take some exercise and your stomach won't be full when you go to bed. Eat in the evening then your body will spend the energy it should be recuperating in digesting food while you sleep. Also, I have been to Italy for around 4 weeks now and now I think Im getting sick. My body isnt used to eating so much rich food with all the wine, cheese and meats that now Im feeling pretty weak and nauseous- when I do something that I shouldnt my body usually rebels and it looks like its happening now. Ugh. :2sick1:
By most standards, the Spanish cuisine I love is also rich and quite heavy, but I'm not aware of the sick feeling you report. I can no longer stomach a large, three+ course dinner in the evening. Quite often I don't eat at all after a big lunch.
