Eatalia!

Also, I have been to Italy for around 4 weeks now and now I think Im getting sick. My body isnt used to eating so much rich food with all the wine, cheese and meats that now Im feeling pretty weak and nauseous- when I do something that I shouldnt my body usually rebels and it looks like its happening now. Ugh. :2sick1:
What time of day are you having these huge meals? If you're eating your big, main meal in the evening then this sick feeling is to be expected. There's a reason why a lot of Mediterranean cultures eat their main meal in the early afternoon. You can then take a siesta, take some exercise and your stomach won't be full when you go to bed. Eat in the evening then your body will spend the energy it should be recuperating in digesting food while you sleep.

By most standards, the Spanish cuisine I love is also rich and quite heavy, but I'm not aware of the sick feeling you report. I can no longer stomach a large, three+ course dinner in the evening. Quite often I don't eat at all after a big lunch.

Up until two days ago I was eating three huge meals a day- large buffet breakfast at the hotel, then a big two course lunch and finally a massive two course dinner of pasta and meat/fish with half a liter of wine so I get back drunk and stuffed at the hotel. I do a ton of walking so Im not fat or anything and I thought this would take care of it but now I think the birds have come home to roost.

My body is a weird thing, anytime I start doing too much unhealthy things like fatty food or drink it reacts in a way that makes me feel terrible all day- being nauseous and tired and wanting to stay in bed. This happens to me every now and then it it is kinda like an internal reality check. I had a very light breakfast yesterday of just fruit, tea and yogurt, skipped lunch and ate a small vegetarian meal for dinner and now Im starting to feel better this morning. :D

Walking or not, that does sound a bit excessive - understandably so given all that marvellous food you've been describing - but not what your body will be thanking you for.

It might also be an idea to get a check-up with your doctor. Those symptoms might well just be your body telling you to stop with the richness, or those could be the first symptoms of Type 2 diabetes. I only mention this because I've been having similar feelings of dis-ease recently and my GP sister tells me I ought get a check-up.

I actually did get a full physical before I left and the tests pretty much said everything was good (blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, etc. was all normal) except I had a fatty liver because of excessive alcohol consumption but its reversible so they claimed. So once I get back home in a few days its back to my daily healthy diet and exercise.
