A spice commonly found in curries may boost the brain's ability to heal itself, according to a report in the journal Stem Cell Research and Therapy.
The German study suggests a compound found in turmeric could encourage the growth of nerve cells thought to be part of the brain's repair kit.
Scientists say this work, based in rats, may pave the way for future drugs for strokes and Alzheimer's disease. Link.

Get the turmeric out and be liberal with it - tastes good if you use it the right way. I use it a lot in most of my dishes as a supplementary earthy spice (I also use Cumin a lot in the same dishes).

There's also a lot of research into turmeric and it's help with prostate cancer too so don't duck the curry guys!

Love curry. I eat it at least twice a week.

using it in chicken recipes gives it a beautiful golden color.

My favorite use for curry is to put in a dipping sauce for artichokes. I melt a small amount if butter, stir in a little mayo and curry powder. It is the only way I like artichokes, except when I can find a really good jar of artichoke hearts in oil with a good spicy flavor. Damn, that is making me hungry for artichokes- think I will go buy some tomorrow!

And back to the op-turmeric is s great anti-inflammatory also.

For chrissake stop telling people about it ! The price of good tumeric extract has gone way up lately.

I was only reading this morning how Chicken Tikka Masala has been toppled by Jalfrezi as Britain's top curry, but even that has slipped out of the top ten meals in the latest survey. Traditional roasts are back!

This stuff makes my tongue hard.

Chicken Tikka Masala is food of the gods. I can't eat it too much. Also, on a late night there's nothing better than curried chips from a chipper in the UK. Jalfrezi, I don't know. I'll have to check that out.

I take turmeric supreme twice a day. Also diatomaceaus earth.

I like the spice too, and it's also good for cats to eat it.

Doesn't matter WHAT spice you add - I'm not eating fried cat!

probably bull****, but count me in --

Not going into too much detail here but my elder brother and my younger brother followed a classic English and takeaway diet and have complications in later life.
I've cooked for myself nearly 35 years and turmeric, ginger and cumin have been a big part of my daily spice additions. I'm tested twice a year because either brother have problems but so far, nothing has turned up...

Because so few in India suffer Alzheimers many think turmeric is instrumental in preventing it.
