So basically this is like the make your own or the Laura Schuders brand peanut butter, and not Skippy. Gotcha. I will try most things once. I was just wondering if could use it as a low cal alternative in baking peanut butter cookies and that sort of thing. I have been learning how to use stevia and splenda in my cooking to cut down on the calories a bit.

Here's the recipe page for the co that makes the product.

1500 calories?

How much weight do you want to lose?!?!?

Even if you aren't so active that's pretty damn low.

Bein 80 pounds is no better than bein 300

I'm not on a 1500 calorie diet. That was an example.

Hmmm, in cookies is an interesting question. I guess you probably could. I've never really paid that much attention to how much oil or butter is used in pb cookies, in addition to the fat in the peanut butter.

If you have any good cookie recipes using stevia or splenda, I'd love to have some.

None that I feel would be worth sharing yet. They got to compare to the real deal or they as far I am concerned don't make the cut. Why only eat a cookie that is only eh? Getting closer though. Now I know why they have chemists working at Nabisco and the like, getting a good recipe that works well in the kitchen is a bitch especially working with stevia and splenda. The stuff you by in the store is mostly maltodexturan and that is decidedly unlike sugar in the way it bakes. When you use sugar it caramelizes in the baked good a bit and that amongst other things helps it to keep shape and add to the flavor profile. I have been using sugar and splenda in a mix to see where I can max the splenda out and still get a good result. You also have to adjust the cooking temps and times. My brother is better at baking than me, he makes awesome cream cheese cinnamon rolls. I cant get him to help me with this. He says that using splenda is pointless, and borders on blaspheme.

See what I mean from my original post? Now, if you weren't so health conscious, you'd be making and eating peanut butter pies and forgetting all the saturated fat in the pastry and then having some icecream or whatever because the peanut butter pie was "diet".

I try to maintain balance in just about everything I do, when it comes to food. Rather than skipping a meal, and having a piece of cake, I'm more inclined toward eating less of everything. Smaller portions of good food, then a small dessert.

I bet that's an excellent use for it!
Maybe for things like peanut butter pie as well (not sure if you've heard of that, but it's good). I think I'll do some googling and see if I can find recipes for it.

I think they are using it as a partial substitute for flour in lot of the recipes it would seem. I think I might get the stuff to play around with and see what I can do with it. It looks interesting enough. I like the beer battered fried chicken idea. I bet it would be great with a good beer in the batter. And maybe some egg.

Peter Pan is the best!

Science has shown that it's not that simple. It shows that different types of food influence our metabolism and our hunger in different ways and so it not only matters if the calories come from fat, carbs or protein, but also what types of fat, carbs, and protein, as well as fiber content. Nutritional content (ie vitamins, minerals, etc) also matter.

actually it is that simple of all the studies done the only proven way to lose weight is to take in less calories than you burn. How you intake the less calories is the tricky part, junk food has lots of calories and will make you feel full, carbs make you hungry for more carbs and protein is filling and low cal

1500 instead of 2000 is 3500 a week that's just short of a pound a week. Otherwise known as the right amount of weight to lose when dieting.

Most likely, my metabolism is fast and I'm in the growing stages so it seems so low to me.

Some people always have a high metabolic rate. I have a relatively high one for a female, as my thyroid tends to be on the marginally hyperthyroid end of the spectrum. I've never been fat, and when I'm really emotionally stressed, I drop weight like crazy. My son, who is now 35 years old, is 6'2", and probably weighs about 150-160- thin and lean, but muscular. He will probably never have the common man's belly (spare tire), as his father never did. Much of it just depends on your genetics.

Yeah I have a brother whose idea of a dinner and lunch is pizza rolls.

Needless to say his nickname was "bones"

I'm the same way as him, but for me, I'm a polar opposite in what I try to eat.

Its probably great in shakes or smoothies. Lets see, almond milk, the powder, some honey, yoghurt and a banana.

Fat isnt the enemy so I'll stick to the real stuff, thanks.

Nothing is the enemy as far as I am concerned, but I am always the curious sort who is interested in food, health, and related subjects. Whatever floats your boat is no skin off my nose.

Omg- I discovered today, that it also comes in chocolate peanut butter flavor.
