I have been looking for quite some time for a really great bread recipe, and I finally found one I like, that's whole grain and wheat. Most homemade wheat bread just doesn't impress me, but this one does. I happened to get an excellent deal on a used Zojirushi bread machine that still looks brand new, and I can now see why they are so expensive. I found this recipe googling last night, and tried it this afternoon. I will cut the recipe next time, because it turned out to be a larger loaf than I expected, but this is for (I think) the 1 1/2 pound load size, and my bread machine pan is a little too small for it imo.

Wheat and whole grain bread recipe:
3/4 c water
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp. sunflower seeds
1 tbsp. sesame seeds
1 tbsp. flax seeds
1 tbsp. millet
1 tbsp. quinoa
1 cup bread flour
1 cup whole wheat flower
1 tbsp. dry milk powder
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. bread machine yeast

Place ingredients into machine in the order listed, set on the whole wheat cycle, and leave it alone until it's done.
If anyone tries it, I'd love to hear what you think. It's the best homemade yeast bread recipe I've ever tried.

I presume you mean just the sunflower seed kernels rather than the whole seeds.

I don't have a bread machine but I think I'll try this soon.

It's a good recipe. Not quite as dense and heavy as I was wanting, but good for sandwiches and toast. The brown sugar adds a nice touch of sweet too.

That looks really good. I'd have to pick up several of those ingredients but they all look like something I would use. I love our breadmaker, I'm looking forward to it cooling off because I tend to use it more in fall and winter. There is a harvest bread recipe I use that calls for bread flour, whole wheat flour and granola cereal. Looks about the same. I've used various cereals and trail mixes all with good results. Dried cherries or cranberries are my favorites.

BTW for those who have not ventured in to the realm of breadmakers, imagine this: in the time it takes to brew a pot of coffee you can measure all the ingredients, set up and program your breadmaker to have fresh bread waiting for you when you get home. It is that easy and awesome. On days that I decide to do pasta for dinner I walk in to fresh french bread with garlic and oregano baked in. We use it far more often than our microwave.

I prefer a heavy loaf too but sometimes something light is nice. I rarely go an all bread flour bread, usually a half wheat mix. But I've been tempted to try a french bread with half cake flour. That would be like air.
